Hey, there. I am Stefan, 15, and a ftm transgender. I am currently struggling with family issues, as my parents are a bit transphobic. I came out recently last year, and all I get is nasty comments from both my family and my mother. I have also been dealing with very low self esteem levels, as I was raised in a home where I was let down on my appearance. Seeking help, and not sure how to start things back up

I dont know where you live or anything like that so cultural variations are something i cant really consider. unfortunately being 15 you wont be able to do to much without their help. you will have to get to therapy and all that, so unless you can trick them into that, it will make it hard. For now though one thing you can do is make you comfortable. there are things you can do to handle it a bit better.... no one can force you to say wear makeup and so on. Get your hair cut more androgynous or short, try wearing more male like clothing or male clothing if you can. theres nothing stopping you from doing what you can. focus on education and getting to where you can get out of that environment and then you can do things a bit later, but can be comfortable till then. Things will get better in time, but for now do what you can to make you be more comfortable with who you are, dont worry about them or what they say, do what you can to be you, if you can do that it will make things much easier on you.

I would recommend the YouTuber Kovuisaunicorn to you, he is transitioning FtM too and has lots of great advice and support on his channel (for example how to bind if your parents aren't accepting- if you would be interested in that- but also other themes). He really helped me (I'm FtN transitioning) and always makes me feel understood and keep going. He's really young, like we are (I'm 17), too. I hope I could help you and you'll be able to be yourself in the future.

Like Bailey said, there is a lot you can do just on your own by dressing more masculine or just androgynous. I've known lots of folks who start out getting support in the lesbian community and then come out as male. I was in a relationship with someone for years and people just assumed she was male at first glance. She went through a couple of years of wanting to be referred to as make, and thought she might want to transition, but ultimately decided she was ok with her body...she just was very masculine without ever taking hormones. If you are serious, you can find a therapist who works with gender issues. In my city our children's hospital even has an entire department for addressing gender issues in kids and offer hormone blockers during adolescents as well as support groups. Our local LGBT center also has TG support groups. Hope you live in an area with some resources. Sounds like you've got some good advice above!
