Hi y'all,
I'm new here. I was recently diagnosed with both a seizure disorder and a tic disorder and just dipped my toes into the complicated world of medications last week. Already have had one interesting experience. The medicine I'm finishing another week of before finishing is Carbamazepine/Tegretol- a seizure medication. The reason I'm mentioning it in this group is that it severely aggravated off my tic disorder. I went from an average of 20-40ish tics a day, with some vocalizations, to 60 to over a hundred vocalizations a day- several days- with many vocalizations. My neurologist has me switching me to Topamax/Topiramate with this last week on Tegretol, and I'm already seeing a vast improvement.
I thought I saw on some of the medicine reviews on this site that others with tic disorders were taking Topamax, so I thought I would see if anyone else is taking it and getting good results or if anyone would just find it interesting about the trial and error with the seizure/tic disorder combo.

I found some success with Topamax, both treating my tics and had some weightloss as well (around 10-20 pounds, I was 310 or so a the time). However I still carried some of the cloudy head feelings like I did while on other medications. Hope this helps!
