Both of my children have OCD and ADD. One also has Tourettes.

Not to seem ignorant. What is OCD? Sorry? It's hard, cause my son w/ Autism although verbal can't communicate at all times his wants or needs..

My two sons are 11 years 5 months apart. Wesley is 9 and Bryan is 21. For the longest we just couldn't have anymore then one day...anyway, Wesley is the one diagnosed with TS, OCD, Anxiety Disorder, Attention Disorder, Sensory Issues, and we're still finding out what else. Bryan is 21 and I know in my heart that he is an undiagnosed "something"!! I believe he has ADHD. When you look up the symptoms of adults with ADHD he matches it almost all the way. He may possibly even have TS. If he does it it so very mild that it probably would not even need to be diagnosed. Now Wesley is another story. He has a "full load".

My daughters are only 3 and 8. The 8 yr old has TS, OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), ADHD, socialization difficulties, and probably sensory-integration problems. I'm positive my 3 yr old will have similar diagnoses. I've worked a lot with Autism and feel for you; I understand how hard it is to simply work with these kids, I can't imagine being their parent! Do you have respit services?

I have 3 kids, ages 21, 19 and 18. They all have ADHD and TS. My younger son (19)and my daughter(18) have OCD and ODD (oppositional defiant disorder). My daughter is also bipolar.
It's actually quite common for more than one sibling to have these things as the probability for each having it goes up with each sibling diagnosed.
A lot of it is genetic (they think) and so it makes sense that it would run in families.

Thanx for everyones replies. OK so I'm not the only one re sometimes I feel like I live in a world all on my own like I see famalies walking arround and I think to myself I wish we could walk in that harmony you know? I luv my kids I just hate the stares or questions about my sons...

What I tell my daughter about being disabled is that everybody has something "wrong" with them. The only difference is that they're not usually so obvious as she is. I think that understanding has really helped her accept herself.

I think that understanding has really helped her accept herself. We often admire the "normal" families, too. But try to remind yourself that they're probably not as "normal" as they appear. Think of how "normal" our kids often look at school.

It's funny when people in my family tell me about what they bought or where they went like to try to impress me w/their normal lives and funny thing is those things don't phase me anymre. I just think " do you know what I deal w/on a daily basis?" You know I think having kids w/disabilities keeps me more involved and I've learned so much about myself. Funny how Advocate, T.S., A.S.D., Ect were not even in my vocabulary and know thats all on my mind 24/7.. I did feel a bit bad the other day when my favorite nephew said "Auntie Paula, You use to be so much fun and go so many places". =(
