I both clench and grid my teeth.
and yes I wear a mouthguard after visiting a dentist.

I do the same, I clench so bad, and my jaw always hurts and TMJ and all. My lower teeth are worn down and top are capped due to it. I have 2 implants (front, side) that My dentist says it from grinding,
I wear a mouth guard but that doesnt help during the day. And I never know i am doing it, till my mouth hurts bad

Yes, i suffer horribly from clenching...i think i clench worse than i grind actually. Am waiting until i get enough money to get a mouth guard from the dentist!!!

I do both. I've been wearing a mouthguard for 13 years. I got 2 from my dentist and broke them, from grinding. So I buy the $1 or $2 ones from the store and they work great! Look in the sporting goods area for them. Plus they mold to your teeth. =-}

YES I DO BOTH. MY DENTIST IS THE ONE THAT MADE ME WEAR A MOUTHGAURD. BECAUSE FROM CLENCHING MY TEETH I PULLED MY JAW MUSCLES.

My mouth will hurt for days after a night of clenching my teeth. My dentist told me I'm gonna lose my back teeth if I dont get a mouth guard. I got one (sports kind) and I totally screwed the back up from grinding the hell out of it. Same with all my retainers from when I was in middle school and stuff. I've ALWAYS done it and my girl has even woken me up because she was getting sick to her stomach hearing me do it at night.

I found with mouth guard you still clench you just clench down on the guard....didnt really stop me from clenching....so ask your dentist other options before you purchase for clenching....they are ok for grinding ..I guess by protecting your teeth from wearing down but im myself am going to try the NTI

$1 or $2 mouthgaurds where? everyone i see are over 20.00 here ?

I clench almost 24/7. I don't even realize I'm doing it until my mouth and jaw starts to hurt. I have no idea what to do for it though.

I have the same problem. I tend to grind my teeth at night however. My boyfriend said he can hear me doing it and its annoying. I bought a mouth piece but have yet to boil it so that it fits in my mouth. I was reading about it and apparently stress or deep dreaming causes it.

I dont grind either, but like you, i clench my teeth. I notice I do it most when im stressing, sad, mad ect. Im not sure if I do it when I sleep, although if I wake up from a bad dream I catch myself clenching them. Im not sure how to fix it.

I too have purchased the $200-$300 mouth guards from my dentist and wore them out. I will go to the sports store and buy a football mouthguard next, but haven't. They are not $1-$2. They are around $20, but so much more worth it than the mouth guards from the dentist, if you can get past the bulkiness of them. It should take about 5 nights of getting use to them.

I clench & grind my teeth especially when I'm stressed out. I've broken one tooth & worn out basically the whole bottom of my mouth. My dentist gave me a $800 mouthguard that I hardly wore (because I couldn't sleep with it) but it didn't prevent the clenching. Apparently I've done this all my life--from the first time I had a "sleep-over" to even now my husband tells me that I do. I've even woken myself up from the sound of the grinding. The best thing I've found is a prescription med Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine). Just take at bedtime for a few days and the soreness will go away. Then if I start up again I'll take it again. I try not to take it too often cuz it leaves me feeling tired in morning. But it's the only thing that works for me!
