Temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMJ syndrome, is an acute or chronic inflammation of the temporomandibular joint, which connects the lower jaw to the skull. The disorder and resultant dysfunction can result in significant pain and impairment.
Do you take any vitamins? Such as Magnesium? Any fish oils to lower down any body inflammation?
I take vitamins and supplements to lower down inflammation in my body as much as I can.
I wore braces, retainers, appliances, etc. for over 12 years. I have a long jaw and very small upper arch which makes my teeth close with an open bite.

I haven't tried vitamins. When I was first diagnosed, I was told the only medication I was needing was to use Ibuprofen Gel, in which I felt didn't work in the slightest. I was using it at the right times with 4 hours gaps in between and it felt no different.
I was then getting to the point it was becoming a lot worse, which was July 2015 when I got given my mouth guard... this didn't last very long as I had ground it down.
Through August 2015, I went to get it replace and that is when they said instead of replacing something that wasn't working, I was to prepare for a 20 minute surgery in September - this was delayed twice but in the end was done! I then had to rest for 3 days and then after that return to my daily duties as normal.
Then, through June-August 2017 my pain started to worsen - I was still suffering with pain post-op but not as bad. I thought that maybe it was the braces in which did that to me and maybe it would go when they come off,
I thought wrong!! My god does it hurt!
I don't eat fish at all, I have personal reasons for this - this being I enjoy going fishing with parents and have been since a young age and never has it interested me in the slightest to eat it and I do not want to eat it to this day! I know it is essential to my diet however I really cannot face it!
I will definitely try to buy some Vitamin tablets and see how that helps!
Thank you!
