Temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMJ syndrome, is an acute or chronic inflammation of the temporomandibular joint, which connects the lower jaw to the skull. The disorder and resultant dysfunction can result in significant pain and impairment.
Does anyone have names/locations for the top notch oral surgeons for TMJ Disorder? I am in NC but I am willing to travel to any state to get the best treatment!!

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!
I would recommend Piper as a first choice though because he requires a TMJ MRI and cone beam CT scan for every single patient. Because of his policy it was found out that both of my discs were displaced and another issue wtih my jaw.
Warburton was great but he does not require an MRI or cone beam CT for his patients and while I think he is a worthy TMJ doctor I find that this is a big flaw within the TMJ community as a whole.
I'm SOOOOOOO happy that I saw them both.
It is nice to see you that say the standard of care is MRI and CT scan but sadly the majority of the people who treat the money joint(TMJ), don't really care to get that information or feel it is un-necessary.
We as TMJ patients see a lot of people selling stuff to us that they can fix us with this $5,000+ treatment. Sadly there is NO FDA approved cure all for TMJ, nor much research to back up the majority of treatments offered.
