600MG a day. It's the minimum dosage that still seems effective. In the beginning it made me very sleepy. I also had several other side effects. After several months they mostly disappeared.

I take 300mg a day. I was taking 1600mg a day but the 300mg seems to work just about as well.

Nothing makes me sleepy, so I'm not a good one to ask about that aspect! : )

Remember when I sent $300.00 to China for the neramexane, and they confiscated at customs.

DGN--Trileptal definitely helps me. One of the complaints people had about it who take it for seizures was that it lowered their pitch perception (as in when they tried to play music, the notes sounded lower than they were). Anecdotally, people with T have noticed it made the pitch of their T seem lower. This has been true for me. Mine is still high, but not quite AS high as without Trileptal. (My T was measured at about 10,500hz.) I take 300mg of Trileptal before bed daily.

I still have occasional bad days, especially if I don't sleep well and have a series of "naps" overnight (naps set off my T). But in generally, I have many more good (low volume days) and the pitch is less shrill. I have even had naps a few time without my T going off (not always, tho)--that NEVER happened before!!

Also, strangely, I decided to try helichrysum oil at the suggestion of a friend at church, and I think that combined with the Trileptal also helps give me lower T. If you get the good stuff (the stuff that is therapeutic grade and from a reliable company--I get mine from AnandaApothecary.com), it is quite expensive, but it seems to work for me, so I am going to keep doing it. I ingest a few drops in a capsule before bed along with my Trileptal and rub some on the back of my neck on the sides of the spine where the nerves come out. I wish it came in a "patch" like they have for smokers, lol.

I also take L-Tryptophan fbefore bed and I'm convinced that lowers my T, too. (I started it before the Trileptal and the oil.) My doc explained what it does to your brain and why it makes sense that it would work for T, so I have been doing that for several months, too.

I am not sure of the cost of Trileptal without insurance--you could ask a pharmacy. It comes in 150mg or 300mg pills (that can be easily broken in half). You can look up Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) on Wiki--it is chemical, not herbal. It's an antiseizure med, but is a potassium/sodium inhibitor (I believe) rather than a GABA agonist, like gabapentin is.

I am going to start using this new med, next week.

I've stopped taking Trileptal twice. Each time I think it isn't doing anything for me. But after I'm off for a while my T does get worse so I go back on. The benefits of Trileptal did not come quickly. You'll want to take it for a few months before you decide if it's effective. You also need to go really slow. Take too much too fast and you'll really regret it. I'd bite those 300mg in half for the first few weeks.

Do you think I should stay with Prami. I have been on it for two weeks, and I am not seeing any positive results, as of yet.

I like Prami. I sleep better. And, I have no side effects at all.

Stay with it for at least 2 months.

I took both for awhile and had some reaction to Prami--skin rash and heavy legs that were making me stumble--so now I am on the Trileptal alone. If you can, I agree with Bob--take the Prami for two month and gradually increase up to the "Parkinsons level" dose of 2mg day. If even that level doesn't help, forget it. Start adding the Trileptal in and decrease the Prami gradually. (Don't go of Prami quickly, ever.)
