The struggle is becoming too much

Hi everyone,
About 6 months ago I moved into a new home. I was very rundown by the time I had moved to the new place and within the first month I got quite ill. I was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and chronic sinusitis. So I finally gave in and got a whole stack of medication including antibiotics, antihistamines and whatever else the doctor prescribed.
Great, so about a week later a bounced back but I started hearing this slight hissing in my left ear. It faded after about 3 weeks but I found myself constantly exhausted in my new home. From running 10 kilometers a day to not even being able to get out of bed. Well, it turned out the place I was staying had a black mold and damp issue which I only discovered 5 months later when I picked up a shoe box in my cupboard. I knew something was wrong with the place as it was always ice cold in the main bedroom but I never thought of checking for leaking pipes under my bedroom cupboard. Anyway, to cut a long story short, it was 6 months of hell.
My sinuses were continually blocked and the ringing in my ears persisted to the point where I would lie in a fetal position weeping feeling helpless as nothing I did improved my condition. The mold continued to attack my immune system all the while and I continued to take heaps of medication to try and combat whatever it was doctors thought was going on. Finally I moved out over a month ago. Although my immune system feels as though it is recovering and I have energy to get out of bed in the morning I am still experiencing horrible tinnitus in both ears. In fact I think this weekend has to be the hardest it's been as it just keeps growing louder and louder and I feel so helpless.
I've read that I should avoid aspartame, caffeine, cigarettes. I am trying in earnest to avoid these things along with medication that has been said to aggravate tinnitus. From someone who has never had a track record of being sick like this to 7 months of hell. I've recently had a very bad ear infection which I have treated with drops given to me by my GP. The pressure seems to have dissipated but the incessant ringing has not. It's all I seem to talk about and people around me don't seem to quite understand what I am going through. I sort of want to pull the duvet over my head and just stay there in darkness for days. I don't know what to do next. Do I go and invest money in tinnitus maskers. Do I go for another ear test? I went for one a few months ago and the ear specialist couldn't find any issues with my hearing. My x-rays came up with inflamed sinuses a few months ago and I do battle daily with my sinuses. I eat really healthily. No rubbish in my diet. Yes, I'll admit I smoke and I do consume caffeine but I am trying in earnest to cut down both and slowly incorporate exercise into my day again so as to perhaps improve blood circulation.
I'll be honest, I just want somewhere to go where I can feel as though I am not alone in this. As it is I am quite introverted and I don't really have support from those around me. People just tend to get annoyed so I just tend to go quiet about my condition and somewhat vanish.
Anyway, not all that strong today. Any advice or support would be so appreciated at this point.
Thanks for taking the time.

You may want to try wearing ear buds and play music at a reasonable sound level with music you enjoy, at least around the house. Some wear them outside the house too. Some sleep with a fan on, or sound machines or with a sound pillow.
Try other doctors, if your country of residence allow this, till you get a doctor who gives you the help you need.
Be your own best advocate. Look at sites like American or British Tinnitus Association for ideas on how to move forward.
I think if you use the magnifying glass icon up at the top right you can search for specific topics that people have written about on here.
I've been looking into tinnitus maskers but these seem quite expensive. I am not sure if you have ever tried tinnitus maskers before?
@McMurdo. Thanks so much for your input here too. I'm keeping coffee in my diet but less than the amount I was consuming. So 3 cups a day. I'm avoiding artificial sweeteners because I've heard this can stimulate the nerve endings in the ears and ultimately just make the T worse.
I've heard that certain anti-depressants help with T as well though? I've never been on an anti-depressant in my life though but I have heard it can help.
So it's really between that and T maskers at the moment. It's mostly in my left ear and on occasion I get this pulsating heat with it. My right ear isn't the one where I have the high pitch screeching. The right ear sort of drones with high and low frequencies.
Anyway, I will keep researching this and use this sight to gain insight into this condition.
Thanks to both of you for your replies.
