Hello Zenie, Just want to emphasize Kasandra's point. You have come to the right place to talk about your issue and possibly get some valuable information. I had to look up hyperacuity, sounds like a vision thing, not too familiar with that. I recently joined the group and have met and talked to some very interesting and understanding people. Since you mention 4 months, your in the same boat as I am. Acquire last November. Sounds like your seeing a physician, so thats a good start, follow his instructions with some hope. Trying to cure it or fight it, can keep your spirits up and that is critical. I'm not sure if mine is really getting better, staying the same or growing worse, but what I do know is that not panicking, learning to live with it and accepting it has made it easier on me. I understand the depression, the feeling of life as you know it being over, but thats dwelling on it, and that will only make it worse. Its tough, but stress and worry are two things you need to avoid. I hope things get better for you.

Don't quit!! If nothing else we are fighters here!! Battling the monster T! I was ready to jump off a bridge last year when I first got T and those first months were very difficult but we are all living proof that it does get easier to "live with". There are many different things you can try, what works for some might not for another so you have to research. Some things to look into would be acupuncture, craniosacro therapy, TRT or Neuronomics, hypnosis, chiropractor, anti-anxiety drugs to help you cope and sleep. Try not to get discouraged. The first 6 months of my T, as much as I wanted to talk to others in my boat...sometimes I just couldn't read about T anymore as it seemed so hopeless. You cannot give up hope though, you can beat this thing and if not beat it at least coexist.

Good advice from everyone here. We have all felt similarly, especially at the beginning.

Buy Kevin Hogan's paperback "Tinnitus: Turning Down the Volume." He felt just as you do! Just reading how much he was like me helped me a lot. He also gives good advice on things to try.

Also "Tortured By Sound" is a good book of a person who dealt with T, H, and hearing loss just like you and her struggle with feelings of wanting to quit.

Zenie, don't be hard on yourself.....it took me almost a year to feel half way normal again and on bad days I still revert right back to where I was but the thing is I am starting to have good days and I can't say that was the case 6 months ago. So know that it can be a long process but just keep putting one foot in front of the other and know that one day you will find you don't feel so desperate about T.
