I just read a post here on Daily Strength where high pitch external noise is thought increase the high pitch of internal noise (T). I've been playing around with listening to low tones to combat high pitch T. I've been listening to a varitey of low pitch tones for an hour or two several nights a week. Although it masks my high pitch T and after I take the headphones off I do have a few minimized T free minutes, my T returns to it's normal level.
Read the above link. This guy claims to have had success treating T by listening to low tones.
Also, google "Dr. Zeng Tinnitus". There is research going on in this area.
It can't hurt to give this a try considering how many of us are sticking tape demagnitzers in our ears.
