Hello friends,
I am not sure just where this post goes, but I did not want to start a topic, since there is a section for advice.
Tuesday I went back to my family doctor, asking his advice on my recent Tinnitus flare. He reassured me that my MRI revealed no evidence of abnormalities in the region of the auditory nerve, but there was some scaring most likely to my migraines, which I get about 8 times a year since age 18, no change...ironically the past few months my migraines have improved in pain and duration. He advised me to try taking a Xanax to possible calm everything down a bit. I am an anxious person. I do not drink, and have a sensitivity y to sedatives, such as in cold meds and sleeping aides, they causes me to become very anxious. I am not sure if Xanax will affect me the same. I fear the worst, bad me I know...I have a bit of a anxiety disorder all my life unmediated all my 58 years. I have just learned to deal with it..
Yesterday, on my hour drive to work, I felt as though my T magnified, as if I was holding a sea shell up to my year. Then through out the day it came in waves like electoral sounds. As you might of read in my post yesterday, I also have not been eating so had a sugar low at work, followed by a panic attack. I drank juice which relieved the shaking panic attack, but drove my T through the roof.
The entire day, was torture staying at work, with the odd ringing, then feeling panicky here and there, dealing with patients in a busy dental office all day...Oh my...I again was so exhausted by the end of the day.
And my ears were really rining as thought they were auditioning for the Philharmonic.
After my hour drive home, working 10 hours little to eat, panicky all day, My husband encouraged me to eat a little dinner, but It was not easy, I was so anxious.
I tired to lay down, but the ringing was so coming in waves, bongy sounds, if that makes and sense, then with high whistles all competing in my ears back and forth to get my attention, that I had to get up and clean. I cleaned the oven, did dishes, laundry...anything to get my mind of the ringing.
I laid down on the sofa, and literally rocked back and forth, leaving the TV on all night and dosed off. I woke up a few times, my ears screeching, but that is not uncommon for me after waking up.
Today, is my day off. I woke up anxious, ears still ringing. I showered, cup of coffee, it did reduce some....YEA!
I have lost 10 lbs in two weeks time, and my ears ringing feels as though I am way over tired or very sick with flu. Well, I am overtired I suppose and not eating good what so ever. Which, is nobody's fault but my own. I just get so caught up in anxiety, worries and fall into a vicious circle of unhealthy choices.
I have what might be considered unrealistic fears, such as my T will get so bad that I will lay in a hospital bed, not able to work, enjoy my family, little grandkids and so on. It just seems that my tinnitus so severe, has to be from something...due to something, or not enough of something. I obsess, trying to find the answer.
My neurologist office has a tinnitus clinic, I made an appointment. Its very costly, due to my insurance won't cover. But I have decided to go and see what their input is and what they can offer.
So, friends, I am scared to say the least, anxious and just wonder if any of you have ever gone down this frightening road with your tinnitus.
I do have a very long days work, long drive too. Last month was vey stressful, due to situation at work. I even took a week off. I did not have severe T flare then though. Also, I have not been eating or sleeping good. I could probably diagnose myself , why my T is in a flare, right?
Thanks for listening...Lucy

Sorry to say but you are the problem the more you wind yourself up the worse the tinnitus becomes, remember it's your brain so it is intending you no harm.if you cannot calm down by deep breathing exercises or meditation then do take some calming medication. We have all been in the dark place and no it will not drive you mad or get louder because you will calm down and gradually learn to live with it,you will learn what causes a spike and how to have good days.If you moved next to a main road then the noise would be very unpleasant but if you learn to live with it after a while you forget it's there.
So please calm down and the tinnitus will start to do the same.
IT DOES GET BETTER
