ANY damn thing just for a bit of relief.. You are not a downer.. You are just a person thats tired of suffering.. i have only been at this for 5 months.. You have had it 4 times as long.... I just don't look forward to the remainder of my life any longer. I am having a really bad day, and am feeling hopeless right now.. Maybe that will change tomorrow... i pray it does. For me, for you also Sue, and for everyone here that shares what we are going through. bob
What you are going thru is totally normal in a lot of cases. I went thru the same thing. Quality of life really becomes "in question". As time goes on you will get over that feeling and you will have better day to much better days. I am not sure if I can explain the masking objective as well as someone that uses it. But I believe that what it does is its like forcing your ears to listen to the sound so much that they just get tired of that frequency and over time will respond and you will have better days.
Don't give up. it's bullshit, about what they are saying. TRT can be used at very high pitches.
The hearing aids might not be able to hit the pitches, but if you go to beyondtinnitus.com, sign up with them, it's cheap
There equitment will allow your to create a pitch to match your T.
They know what they are doing. Dr Hamid, is one of the best in the country, with Tinnitus, himself and another doctor, created this program
I use it to mask my T, when the pitch gets to high, and my widex hearing aids can't keep up with my T
You can run the program on a walkman or IPOD
Trileptal, which I started taking to lower the pitch, gives me more good days than I used to have and has had no side effects for me. I haven't noticed it lowering my high pitch, though (about 11K)--although I have read that it does that for some people. If the Trileptal doesn't continue to work, I am hoping to try pramipexole, which seemed to have good success according to a study printed in the ATA magazine this summer. My doc said he'd be willing to let me try it.
i have had t for 6 years,6years of torture on and off...i had to travell miles away to a t centre,to be given a pillow thing which you plug into the radio for white noise,a white noise ear plug...that was all 2years ago,and now recently i have been refrerd to a t councillor,i saw her last week....and i have a follow up appointment in new year....advised to return to yoga...wear my h aids for an hour a day to start.to allow the brain to get used to the extra sounds it will be hearing ,i was trying to wear it all day and it gave me extreme head aches,i gave up,but it seems this was too long ,so an hour a day and build up gradualy.so for an hour a day at mo,i do have some relief, and that is the word, some ...whoop...i have never been offered anything other than what i have mentioned....in early days ,i just wanted to run away and scream, why me ,why now ,is it some kind of punishment(daft i no)no answers to this ,exept, never give up or its won, robbed us of our right to a life, and i take it day by day....
