Anyone familiar?.. there is an old study that shows some promise..

I got a scrip from my GP, just because...
I feel I need a "weapon" that will make my t more liveable, and I am tired of being so depressed , disgusted, and miserable...
If I can get things on a somewhat more even keel, and get even minor relief, I feel my outlook will improve. If my outlook on life improves, perhaps the T will become less important and I can start to let it go..

I HATE drugs,,, any and all of them.. I just don't know what else to do except get drunk a lot, but thats not much of an option... Guess what one of the possible side effects is... tinnitus . Big surprise right?... I'll let everyone know how I make out.... Not expecting much really.... bob

If I may ask, what script did you get from your doctor? I understand hating doctor and meds but tinnitus as we all know can make you miserable. I hope your medicine the doctor prescribed helps you. I take a .25 mg Klonopin for the anxiety and a 10 mg Amitriptyline for sleep. It helps.

After reading your post again it occurred to me you asked your doc for Nortriptyline? Dont really have an opinion on the Nortriptyline but I think anything that helps with depression and anxiety can help you cope. I hope it works for you.

Bob, Hink here(inside joke!!) The way i feel right now I could have written the same post word for word. Have tried the alcohol route a couple of times and will admit it works for a short period of time then your hooked and it's not pretty trying to get off the stuff.

I was on the hard stuff only because beer simply would not get me drunk enough. Now if they could only make a pill that would give you that drunk feeling without any side effects that would be ideal. But that will never happen. My first go around with alcohol I ended up in the hospital with a .395 alcohol level.

Needless to say my whole body felt like it was "soaked" in alcohol. Come to think about it, at that level it was. My only way of coping now is to mask by listening to music or white noise through a MP3 player.

I take Amitriptyline at night. I hope the best for you on your Nortriptyline trial. You never know when something might help. Take care, John

I believe Amtriptyline and Nortriptyline are cousins, they are both old drugs and I have read some people have luck with them. I started taking amtriptyline for tinnitus. I don't think it helped with that at all but it does help me sleep and it also helps with my RA pain, along with a laundry list of other drugs.

Tried it for a couple of months. First few weeks I had really low T and then it went back to normal.

Also since taking Amitriptyline I don't get those daily dull headaches. Another "good" side effect of the drug.

You'll probably want to get some moisturizing mouthwash. Dry mouth is really common.
