We discussed this on Yuku. Personally, I think the effects of T were downplayed. An unknowing person would think its no big deal, and just a kind of joke.. I really doubt either of them ever had truly severe, debilitating T. Most likely they both had mild/moderate cases, and are long habituated. If they had ever suffered they way many of us here suffer, they could never have been so cavalier.. It was not helpful in my opinion... bob

I wonder what was the reason or goal behind that discussion.. if one can call that a discussion. it's just a silly comedy show, if they intended to raise awareness about the problem of tinnitus, these clowns failed miserably..

As a comedy show I was impressed they even discussed something like tinnitus in a serious manor.

I think it was about right and glad it was even brought up in such a popular medium. It just would have been nice if they talked about if and how they support tinnitus research and encouraged others to do so too.

To 99% of tinnitus sufferers their response and attitude about T is about right. Of course, those of us in the 1% of T sufferers who are deeply troubled by our tinnitus don't see it that way.

OMG. Whiney comments about this interview only congeal some of my current thinking about how we all have a different prespective. What is wrong with this interview? It puts the problem out there in the public eye by two high profile personalities that have a history with this condition and are therefor qualified to speak. The strong way in which they deal with it is commendable. What would you have them do, whine about how hard it is to live with? It's obvious that neither o them has missed a beat because of it. And neither have I. Frankly I can't understand anyone who has put their life on hold because of this. These two gents are tremendous inspiration to me because of the strength they show in regards dealing with this condition. Laugh in the face of T? Damn straight. Anyways, I've always said there are two kinds of people in my world. Those that get Dave and those that don't. I don't know how to relate to those that don't.

The problem, to me, is that while it's nice to have humor in all aspects of life to help get thru I think tinnitus, severe tinnitus, is hard for anyone who doesn't have it to understand. In my life I don't talk about T because I get the eye roll that's it's not a big deal so when these two laugh about it, it just makes it all the more harder for it to be taken as a serious condition. But it is a comedy show so it's not the forum really for a serious discussion.

I used to think Dave was funny when I was younger, now I grew up and find him to be an ass.

I recall Dave saying on one show he heard a hum and thought it was something humming in his house until he eventually realized it was in his head. That isn't the kind of T most of us on here have, but I am always glad when the issue is discussed on TV. I've had people tell me they never even heard of T! So at least it's getting info out there.

Dave graduated from my HS about 10 years before me and lived in my neighborhood. He was hilarious in Indy as a weatherman and late night movie host, but now I like very talented Jimmy Fallon much better (who grew up in my hubby's neighborhood!).

Except he still has the ringing in his ears. Will somebody get that damn phone he screams. The audience finds this very funny.l of course, do not. Funny thing is though I remember watching this before I got the T and might have chuckled but didn't really understand the "joke". To me this is much more of a disservice to postive T awareness.
