I have done that many times. T. does have many different sounds for some. I find if I am wondering about the sounds, I am thinking about my T. even in the back of my mind. Sometimes it is my refrigerator, and sometimes it is me. Lol.

When the T hit me hard, it was very sudden, and I had problems like that. I found out months later that I was quite hypothyroid - and that played into it. I did get a lot better, but not completely, when my thyroid (T3) levels became normal - which took a long time.

I never attempted to mask the curse. Learn to live with it, pursuant to ENT educated and knowledgeable instructions. Therefore the noise I hear is t and do no not mistake it for a fan or fountain. I wish not to give it any more importance then it being an annoying noise.

The hypotyroid condition is apparently a cause for t, and if one can get treatment for such, they may be on the path towards recovery.

I get new T sounds a lot so when a new one pops up I don't always know if it's T or something external.

Likewise, sometimes I don't know if the sound is in my head or not.
The other day I heard the same humming background sound in my heard in a grocery shop and I thought it was from me, and I asked if my husband heard it too, and he did. It was the humming of the ventilator above the icebox that contained frozen food.

BobsDream, 14 different noises! One at a time or all at the same time?

I have two, a high pitch screeching sound and a recently appeared background humming. Maybe this humming sound has always been there, I don't know. It is very obvious when I woke up in the morning.

Usually one at a time but I've had as many as 4 at once. 2 in each ear. At this point I should stop counting as I really don't remember what each one sounds like anymore. The changes are slow and month to month. Most of the changes seem to be a result of what ever medications I'm taking at the time.

When I first got T and it was intermittent, I would never know if it was my T kicking in or something else. Once my daughter and I walked into a hotel room and I said my usual, "Do you hear that or is it my T?" And she said, "Hear what?" and I said "Oh NO!" because it was quite loud.

Then she said, "Just kidding--it's the florescent light over the sink buzzing."

Haha! Bad girl!! Don't do that to your old mom!! :D

(So yes, Bob, that does happen to me often--like you, my T shifts...I've had 5 or 6 sounds, but never more than 2 at once...one in each ear.)
