Hyperacusis but I feel sound in my body

I feel sounds in my body and it's very painful.  It's disabling.  Loud thumping can feel like the concussion of a bomb.  Little sudden noises my kids make, like putting a pen down on a desk, can feel like being tapped on from the inside and it's so startling it makes me jump and triggers a fight or flight response.  I have to wear earplugs to sleep because little cracking noises in the roof make me jump and wake me up. 


Does anyone else get this?

I'm not as affected by it as you are but I definitely get that fight-or-flight response to sudden, high pitched noises and I HATE the sould of plates hitting each other like when I unload the dishwasher.

I don't know how to describe it. It's not a physical pain but it's like my brain thinks it's a physical pain.
Does that make any sense?!?

yes yes exactly! when I have been on pain meds for a dental issue, say, my ability to tolerate noise is much improved. it is absolutely perceived by the brain as pain, even though it isn't the same as if you had a cut or a broken bone. our brains react as if it is pain. I had a functional MRI years ago and the neuroradiologist said that it was interesting to him that my brain had a pattern he sees in patients with chronic pain. I have been searching for a medication that treats chronic pain that might help me, but no luck so far. I am sedated so easily by most of the meds.
