I have suffered from T for the past 4 years and my T has become louder as well. The increase in volume started since months after the onset. Triggered I suspect by a splint that did not work for what has now become worse TMJD.
I would like to ask our DS friends if they have experienced the same problem with their T.
Thank you friends

Bob, after what you wrote I now realize that everytime I go out to the city ( I am from the Phillippines and I have lived practically a monastic life) I do have increased T volume.
Thanks. What d you think would be best....I can't avoid not getting out of the house every so often.
We all have to continue living our lives so getting out is important. I carry ear plugs with me at all times and wear them when needed. If you don't have a pair you should get some.

I don't know much about hearing aid but was your doctor aware of your T problem. It seems like if the hearing aids are making it worse maybe they should be adjusted. Did you have hyperacusis before the hearing aids?

Certain rooms or buildings will also set off my T. I have a room with a bay window in our house--my T is always worse in there. In my kitchen, which is open on three sides, I rarely hear my T. Weird, huh? The auditorium on campus where my husband works hates my T (or my T hates it)--I go to listen to a speaker or lecture, and always leave with a bad T buzz. It has a very high ceiling--maybe that has something to do with it, or perhaps the sounds system (even though it isn't very loud) sets my T off. IDK.
Oh, and the campus cafeteria with all that steel and formica and glass windows?? Forget it. I always leave that place with elevated T. :(

Within one hour of T screaming from 3 points - my right ear had oscillating T, the left ear a steady high ring and my entire brain with an electronic high pitched squeal. 60 people socializing in a small house as the weather was cold. One of the guests who does relaxation therapy took me down to the one quiet spot in the house in the basement. After an hour doing relaxation excercises my T was down to just the one sound. It was a humiliating experience for me. Today I am in my quiet house and have decided to not attend anymore big events like that unless i can completly protect my hearing. Also will put the hearing aids away till i can figure out what is causing the new and disturbing loudness. Open to suggestions. Im feeling trapped with this condition.
