I saw two relatively new devices. One is marketed as "SoundCure":

Apparently the device uses modulated, low-pitched tones to trick the brain into not hearing (or hearing less of) the T sounds. Importantly, the introduced tones are much lower volume than the T; it's not a "masking" device.

Turns out the company's manufacturing facility is in the next town to mine. I'm setting up a consult with them to see if it is appropriate for me.

It appears to be an iPad pre-loaded with relaxing music. Better than nothing, but doesn't seem like any new science here.

I've heard of both. I know some that used to be on this board have been helped by both. As McMurdo said tinnitus is so individual, what helps one might not help another....seems nothing is universally helpful so you have to try for yourself. I'm glad you made an appointment to check it out. Keep us posted.

A couple of people on here have use Neuromonics successfully and a couple had no success with it. Not sure if anyone on here tried or had success with SoundCure.

I tried soundcure. It made the tinnitus much louder during use to the point where i discontinued it after 4 weeks of usage. I followed the Audiologists instructions and even emailed her daily on my success. I don't know who may have had success with this device but i sure did not. It is awfully expensive at $2800.00 for a device that may not work for everyone.

I tried it for the first 4 weeks and lost only my $260 deposit which probably went towards the audiologists time.

during the fittings i was repeatedly told that this device would quiet my Tinnitus. I was with high hopes when i began using it. I was let down very much low from those hopes. I wish i could report better usage.

Thanks for the heads-up on Soundcure. They now offer a 30 day free trial, no money deposit, so it's somewhat risk-free. It's also now lowered to $1800 total ($150/mo for twelve months), so they must be "fine tuning" their business model.

I am making appointments with T centers at two major research facilities near me, Stanford U and UC San Francisco. They may have some more options available.

Last night was VERY bad. The sound wouldn't subside, and I couldnt get to sleep even after 4 mg Lorazepam. I almost "checked out", but my girlfriend is a rock. My doc upped my dosage to 6-8 mg for the next couple of months, to get me through. By then, I might have found some other form of relief.

My experience with Neuromonics was the same as yours was with Soundcure Muscleboy8 but at $4,000.00. I know it helped DebbieB though.
