I take Lexapro without any issues but I don't think it ever helped with the anxiety. There are of course true anti-anxiety meds but it's debatable if they will help in the long run and there are strong addiction possibilities. A drug that has helped me is Lamictal. I call it the "I don't care drug". It sort of removes emotion and makes me care less about T. But it can also emotionally numb you to everything.
The only other thing I can recommend is self hypnosis. I know people immediately scoff when they hear that but it's not what most people think. It can really help if you put the work into it. I did it when my T was at it's worst and I'd do it again if needed. It doesn't make the T go away or reduce it's volume. It's simply a relaxation technique. It's like meditation but with mental exercises. I'm far from being any kind of expert but feel free to ask any questions.
The only problem with Ativan is it can be addictive if misused. I take fewer than 5 pills a month, so I've never had a problem with it being addicting.
