My right ear has only mild T & a constant drone in the quiet hours however if I shake my head from side to side the drone will stop for a second or two
You have done well in your attempt to understand the variations that t may actually cause, T is rather unpredictable for some, while for others it can be quite predictable. I fall into the latter category.
As yourself, I have eliminated foods that trigger louder t and have protected ears against excessive noises. Also the exercises and workouts twice a day are good. Distractions is the best technique in controlling t, not letting the t be important.
Apparently the distractions that you adhere to are not quite enough. The variations in your stress level during the day have a direct correlation to your t. Even the anticipation of a stressful event will raise the t. For example, the kids whereupon they are expected to come home from school and certain expectations and responsibilities are required would drive up the anxiety and stress level. Preparation of dinner, meeting someone, need to clean your home etc. It may be anything that is similar to this.
Therefore, I feel that you need to get control of stress and anxieties before control of t can be ascertained. This may consist of relief obtained from things that you enjoy so that you are more relaxed during the day. May consist of watching your favorite show, relaxing exercises like walking, shopping, and why not throw in an occasional massage or relaxing technique like cranio-sacral therapy.
Feel that your getting the message from your body to rediscover relaxation techniques. It's only up to you to pursue them.
