I believe I meant the word remember
Nice woman, very smart and capable.
Yes I was told to stay away, and did for a few weeks, but I disagree with her line of reasoning. She feels it keeps mme focused on my T... Problem is , I will always be focused on it, until it gives me a break.
Its unrelenting, and there is no way for me to "escape".. Its foremost in my mind, no matter how much I don't want it to be..
I get a lot of information here, plus I like everyone.. I learned about her and the program at Buffalo through the internet... Its not a demon that will keep T in my head.. Its a tool I use for education.
She also doen't want me to drink, but I have to cope some way ... It helps.. Is it REALLY any worse than taking benzos, and possibly getting badly addicted??.. Not in my mind.. So yes, I did listen to her,,, to an extent.... bob
dgn58, Can I ask what you get high on? I tried pot but it simply didn't work. Dang.
I think in the beginning of my T nightmare I did have to stay away from these boards because I was beside myself...suicidal really and coming to support boards only to see things like "no cure, nothing works, learn to live with it, I've had this for x amount of years"....all these things made me even more desperate and depressed so I stayed away but as I realized this T wasn't going away I started to come here for ideas and support. So I can see where reading all the negatives doesn't help but after awhile you need to reach out to others who truly understand and share things that might or might not help as we are all so individual with out T. And I think any of us who have had this for awhile and been to various doctors know...we know more about this condition than they do so if you want to try and help yourself I feel your better off here than wasting money on doctors who really don't have a clue.

I love smoking pot, but that is a no no. It really does make your tinnitus worse. But when you are really high, you really don't care about your tinnitus.
Valium is my favorite. I personally think that Valium is one of the best therapies out there, for helping in lowering your tinnitus.
I had and ENT from the house clinic, that did some extensive studies with Valium and T, and he swears by it.
And he said that addiction to Valium takes at least six months. The other Benzos you can get addicted to them quicker.
Klonopin I use as well, but to be honest with you, I don't think it is very theraputic, like Valium is.
And of course I take my 25 to 50 mg of Elavil
As I said before the ATA told me to find a support group, could not find one in my area, but this one works for me, I need the support. Especally when I am struggling with a spike, or need answers.
Glad you are back, Bebee. My audio told me to stay away, too, and I ignored her. Like you, DS doesn't make me focus any more on T than I already do!
My first doc had me try Valium (said it was the only thing that could lower T) and it did nothing. I read that Dr. Schulman in NY and Mass Eye and Ear recommended Klonopin, so I tried that and it did lower my T. As was said, everyone has to find what works best for them...
