I have been paying bills late. Part of it is that I don’t feel like doing paperwork when I’m home.  My job has a lot of paperwork.  My ministry involves paperwork.  I’m sick of it. I have skills and I enjoy using them, but I don’t enjoy doing it all of the time.  I need a change when I get home from work.   Active stuff or a little time to chill and watch some TV with my dinner.  But the other reason I’m paying stuff late is because I have several things cOming out of my check for insurance, savings, etc.  We have pet insurance, 2 timeshares.  These monthly recurring charges have really added up.  And I’ve thought about selling the house and getting something smaller.  Something needs to change, because the house, car and essential utilities should always be paid on time.  And the other things, if they can’t be paid on time, we shouldn’t have or else there needs to be additional income.  Some other things that are late now are some medical documents that are due.  My wife does no paperwork ever.  It is all on me.  So I have made it a value to have 24 hours each week of a day off. I have been more exacting about that lately, cutting out any activities during that period that I don’t view as restful.  And now it is costing me.  I’ve done only minimal paperwork to pay essential bills, and I’ve missed deadlines.  I am happy that I am getting to work on time and other places early now.  But this victory highlights one reason why I was always late...I have too many responsibilities.  And we aren’t behind in paying anything, just a little late sometimes.  But there is enough for me to realize that I personally need an overhaul in responsibilities and expenditures.  I will want to speak to my wife about it in the next few weeks, perhaps over vacation.

One thing that I’m doing today is not staying after church for the dinner so that I have a little more time to prepare for tonight at a less frantic pace. These schedule changes all make a little difference even for tomorrow. I will be a little less tired so that I can do personal finances.

Yesterday I was looking at dates on the calendar and figuring out how we can pay our essential items on time. I have spoken to my wife about it, even considering more auto payments so that the important things must be paid. For now, I am just going to work on budgeting pay checks over several weeks, setting aside funds from this pay that will be needed for next pay, rather than just payin what is due now and using the rest for items that we shop for. This is going to be a little tough, but I am excited about the challenge.

I paid two late bills this morning. One I just remembered yesterday. The other one my insurance had already lapsed. Again, I am not having time to do all my paperwork on time. Have made some progress bough in advance budgeting. Because of this, I have not paid any bills late this month so far because I didn’t have the funds.

I jus reviewed my previous posts and realize that something has changed. My wife has been working more hours and bringing in more money. Unlike my original post on 5/3, right now we have enough to pay all bills on time. I felt motivated on my day off yesterday to spend time doing the books. I paid and recorded everything and feel a sense of accomplishment from my work. I also added a few more auto payments yesterday. My desire is to make paying the bills as simple and efficient as possible, because I know that I am tired of paperwork often from my job. Yesterday I also did some tasks that will help with our finances, because I submitted an insurance claim. I also put my rental house account in order and balanced the books for church! Often on a day off I don’t do these things, but perhaps God gave me the motivation to do it and I took pride in my work. I am doing his slowly, but if these auto payments work out for the next month, I intend to add electric and gas auto payments for next month. If that works out, then I intend to add mortgage, and then finally perhaps credit cards. Credit cards I undecided on due to the changing nature of balances and how I move the balances to cards with lowest APR. But the most important thing is that I have been concerned about paying things late, and I am finding some hopeful and positive solutions. The next thing is that I would like to teach the financial system to my spouse.

If procrastination is the problem, put everything on auto-pay that you can. Look for bills in the mail everyday, then pay bills the day they come in. You will feel so relieved!

If you pay late because funds aren't always available, that's a different issue. Maybe someone else can help with that.

Thanks for the insight! Also for the affirmation. A lot of things are now on auto pay, but I would like to put even more on auto pay. With this, though, I must also avoid the use of credit cards.

Very well scored, especially for those who have not yet had anyone experience in sales and do not know how this mechanism works. Unfortunately, I had to pay a few fines because I didn't know what taxes I had to pay. Since then, however, we have learned a lesson, absolutely all accounting must be carried out with enormous rigidity. And in order not to go wrong I in recent years use online platforms such as ecva at ThePayStubs. It is simple in terms of the fact that you can check yourself, both all the payments you make, and if you have employees.

    This morning I left my little apartment to go to my job, which is over the mountain to a little school. I am a sub teacher so I dont get paid on holidays so I have to budget. I did all my math and bought food, paid bills, got just enough gas in my car to sail thru the week, spending nothing until friday when I finaly get paid. So I am then driving to work with 20 dollars to my name and a lunch...
