I don't have parathyroid disease but I did lose function of my parathyroids during my thyroidectomy. I now rely on calcium supplement for life. I have no idea if this is similar but I have not had any bad effects from being on the calcium.

If your not comfortable with what you are hearing from your MD's - try seeking a thyroid expert. There seem to be many out there. Not to scare you but my labs were always normal and I ended up with thyroid cancer despite the "normal" results.

If your levels were normal, how did they find your problem? DId you have any symptoms that made you get checked further?

I was completely a-symptomatic! If it hadn't been for a promise to my mother to have my thyroid checked, I would to this day be living with the cancer. My mother kept insisting that my neck was too thick and that she thought I had goiter. I went for a routine physical and insisted that the GP check my thyroid. At first he dismissed it saying my levels would show something and when I explained about my neck size he decided to feel for my thyroid and he could then feel the nodule. From there I went for an ultra sound and it was discovered that I had several very large growths that based on the size and boarders they were pretty confident it was cancer. They estimate I had lived with the cancer for nearly 3 decades based on the size of the tumors. Fortunately it was very slow growing!

Hi: I am planning on getting a ultrasound. I had 2 Sestumibi Scans, and they were both negative. I also need to get my PTH done. My real problem right now is this lump on the collarbone. I believe I am dealing with 2 different problems. This lump popped up when I pulled and twisted my neck. The x-rays said Torticollis amongst other problems, and I think its a pulled muscle. I read up on Torticollis, and they said it can cause a lump when everything twists. It only bothers me when I turn my head on the side that I had hurt. I have so much going on right now with the holidays. I just cannot handle much more with all my other problems. I think I mentioned that I am in remission with Leukemia. I am due for that check-up also after Christmas.
My nerves are shot. I do not have any enlargement in the neck like you mentioned.
The fact that you had the cancer for so long is amazing. Are you clean now since the tumor was removed? You may have told me all this, but my mind is off somewhere in LaLa Land lately. My sister is coming in from Montana tomorrow night for a week,and I have to just concentrate on family togetherness right now.
I am trusting God to get me through all of this, thought that would be the best place to start. Thanks for Everything. I will keep you updated.
