Hi all,
New here, but need some advice.
I was diagnosed with PTC in August 2008. Total thyroidectomy in Sept. 2008. Been cancer free since.
Was in a car accident in January and have been having major issues with my back. After seeing a spine specialist and getting an MRI, I was informed that a lesion was found in my L1 vertebrae. Because I've had cancer before, and because it was thyroid, I have to have a bone scan, he's concerned that I'm having a recurrance.
I'm freaking out over here. After 9.5 years of remission, NOW it comes back?? He said it could be a hemangioma, but I have my doubts that it is. I'm just really scared. I'm almost 45, my oldest daughter just got married, they're buying a house. I have 2 other daughters, one who is just about engaged, and my youngest still lives at home (she's a teenager).
My head is a whirlwind of emotions right now and just needed to vent.
We didn't, actually. Bone scan came back clean (no cancer, but a ton of arthritis). Spine doc still doesn't know what the lesion is. Not as freaked out as I was, tho the lesion does still scare me. He wants to check it periodically to see if it has grown. If it does, we will have to deal with it before it fractures my vertebrae.
As far as my back, I have 2 herniated discs in my neck, a bulging disc in my neck, bulging disc in my lower back, and arthritis from my neck all the way down. I'm on a nerve blocker (same medication they give to people with RA). Still in a lot of pain most days. I go back to see the spine doc this Thursday.
