I had surgery on august 26th and had right side of thyroid removed
and it was a papillary carcinoma but it was completely encapsulated. I take a blood test Next Monday and see doctors on Oct 4th. Today however i felt very tired and not right. Anyone out there have something similar and give me some ideas. I did play golf but feel shitty and tired. Surgeon thinks that the left side should take over for the right and that the right was probably not functioning that well. Help

Hi. I am so glad you posted your results. Mine were similar, encapsulated pap.
I had my whole thyroid taken out because I also had hashimotos, and was loosing function eventually.
Amazing. playing golf. you golfers.
If you are feeling tired, cold, constipated, fuzzy thinking...you need to tell the doctor. He can put you on a low dose of synthroid. PLUS my doctor wanted (still does, 7 years later) to keep me at a very low tsh to prevent cancer from ever returning. Ask your doc about that one.

Thanks for your tips blue violet i appreciate it. I go to the doctor on oct 4th and i am getting a blood test this coming monday. Does the synthroid help you with the tired wiped out feeling. I am going to tell the doctor how i feel yes and i will ask him about keeping the tsh low to prevent cancer return.

Yes, synthroid keeps me with a metabolism..since I don't have a thyroid, without it I would eventually die. But many people I know are on a supplemental dose.
My leg cramps, feet aches, cold, fuzzy brain all told me when my dose was too low.
And you know about the www.thyca.org website, right?

I do know about that website but how should I use it what is the best feature there and what should I look for. thanks for you concern when something happens like this you need support and i appreciate you help. Played golf today but felt very tired but made it through it. Have a great day Steve

I clicked on papillary/follicular and there is also a section for newly diagnoised. there is also on the pap/fol page an article on thyroid replacement.

i played golf today and felt a little better not as tired however i still feel fatigue and have a few headaches and my body temperature is in the low 97 and sometimes 96. I go for blood test tomorrow at 730 and like i said see doctor in 10 days. What are you thoughts

If your tsh is super low, he should be calling you before that. in ten days, if your other half of the thyroid isn't picking up the slack, you will be even more miserable. Hope not. But not time to plan a marathon!

Well i did the blood test yesterday and the doctors should get it by today. I feel i am feeling some of the symptoms of hypo i am tired and feel shitty. I took a 46 min walk yesterday but was fairly tired most of day i am going to play golf today see how that goes i want to exercise and do things despite feeling down/off. Hopefully my doctors will be able to correct my feelings thanks steve
