hydrocephalus: a blessing in disguise?

i kept thinking for a long time, that i was born with a curse. and that i should go to hell because i was not made whole by God. i also felt that God just did this to me because he hated me. Ive now come to realize, thats not true. Ive learned that i needed patience, kindness, and trust. the patience for how ong it takes for test results to come back and for when i feel there is no hope. kindness for when i need a doctor to listen to me. and the ability to trust the doctors for what they do and the wisdom to know if that doctor isn't right for me.
Has anyone felt this way?

I don't have hydrocephalus but my son does. I have learned that apparently God thinks I am stronger than I ever thought I was. Odd. I always found myself especially in my marriage and the relationship before that to be the weaker one. Especially because of all my tears and when he came and these past 6 years have occurred I found our apparently I am stronger than I ever thought. I thank God for my son everyday. Maybe he does give certain people certain things for a reason. And maybe he gives certain parents things for a reason...Problem is they don't always know it. I hope this post isn't a bother to you I just have had lots on my mind and I seen your post and it interested me. I am glad you feel this way though. Bless you and take care!

I believe that whatever doesn't kill us, only makes us stronger. Most people on here have had hydrocephalus for life. So we don't know any other way of living, other than making accomedations when needed. Most of my shunt related surgeries took place during the summer and I was still recovering once school started. But, I just pushed myself as much as I young child could. When I turned 18 I graduated from high school, my mother got sick, I had two surguries and then watched my mother start and finish chemo, before I activly started my first semester of college. So we all do what needs to be done, when it comes to hydrocephalus. The highs are good and hopfully long lasting. But, the lows are emotionally and physically taxing for us and our families. I don't think I'd be the same person that I am today without hydrocephalus. I care about everyone and will help out as much as I can. Even at expense of my own well being at times, which isn't a good thing.

I have never really looked at that way. Of course I look as my Spina Bifida ( why I have this) that way so maybe I do. I believe it not only teachs us all that but people that love us that too.
