I had leased a building to a company who helps people with physical and mental challenges re-enter the work force. Some of their clients will never make it but they are still in therapy. After I moved them in I found out that some are totally disabled and the company is providing Adult Day Care program also. The Fire Marshal found out at the same time. They wanted to kick them out immediately but through lots of negotiations we have compromised on upgrading the building and installing sprinklers and fire alarm systems like a school would need. Not an easy project on a 1960s bank building. Even the floors and ceilings are concrete!
Thank goodness for computers. I save so much time while I get to ice and heat. I wish the city would accept Skype meeting, then I would not have to be going to the Fire Department and City Hall so much :(
This one bulding is taking up way too much of my time. But these clients would not have a place to go if the Fire Marshall shut them down. I just got my 6 week extension last night to accomplish this. Wish me luck, it is going to be quite a challenge.
