I just got a phone call from my PCP's office. The nurse said that my doctor wants to come right now and bring all my meds with me! The one other time they pulled this was also in bad weather, but I was also working so dropping everything and driving in a snowstorm was not going to happen. That nurse was really nice about it and said I could wait until Monday or Tuesday of the next week. It was still an extra 25 minute trip to go the next week when I didn't even have an appt., but at least she was nice about it.
I tried to explain to this nurse that I couldn't drive anywhere on these roads since I just removed my snow tires. I told her that I'd rescheduled my Rheumatology appt. for this very reason! I didn't like her tone...she said she'd tell my doctor.
We just had a conversation at my last appt. and discussed the fact that I've never misused my meds or given her any reason to think so. I've passed every urine test and returned unused meds when we switched mid month.
I think she's just being miserable. She informed me that I was her only chronic pain patient...and pointed her finger at me in an accusing way. What the hell is her problem?
I probably should have just taken my chances on the roads, but I chose not to. I have no idea what's going to happen now. Now I'm not just pissed, but I'm a little scared, too. Crap...crap crap crap.

85FToday I need to go and get Mom and Dad's birth certificates, marriage license and Dad's death certificate. Mom is in no shape to find that infor for the social security office to correct the mistatke they made in Mom's income. Just one more thing I need to do. Mom was in bed asleep and I didn't wake her. It's obvious the end is really near. What I am upset about is if Mom had been willing to...

89FNo energy, just going to do whatever. Sandra, It's hard to move at a certain time in life. You've been in your home forever, at least you'll be able to travel to the beach and enjoy. Oh, we did hear Boris Johnson's tenure ended due to a series of ethics scandals, accusations of dishonesty and a final collapse of government support that forced his recognation. What he didn't do like the...

Hugs hun, Maybe call later and tell her that you are real worried about her call and not being able to come on demand in this weather. Twist it back at her to get her to connect with how you feel.
Remember this is their problem and not yours! So you did absolutely the right thing and said you couldn't make it in the snow. Do not feel responsible!
You're supposed to be willing to drop everything, grab all your meds and get right over there. I'm going to find an orange jumpsuit to wear to my appts.. If I'm going to be treated like a criminal, I might as well look like one!
Try not to worry, i hope you get it sorted.
the weather is bad and your car isn't prepared
it's not fair the demand your appearance without more notice
if you are her only CP pt what has she done to understand your issues
what is the reason for this?
please try to put your mind at ease and see what will happen next week.
hugs and support
Hugs and Peace,
Joanne

Calm down....and breathe. This is just normal PM Contract care...we sign the contracts we agree to the terms when we accept their services. She could make you do this once a week if she wanted to. You have to remember Dr.'s have protocol and rules and FDA crap to follow and deal with and the fact that your her only CP patient makes it harder for her, not easier. She doesn't do this all day long with tons of patients, she had to keep up to date and current with 1 patient, which means she's a lot easier to get "checked out" by the higher ups.
Ignore the nurses tone, it's Friday, they've worked all week and remember they have to drive in the awful weather to get to work....so she's probably just frazzed and not in a 'people' mood...hell you couldn't pay me enough to do that job. The crap they have to put up with with the 'no thanks' they get...ummm.NOPE.
Just go in Monday or Tuesday, calm and normal do your UA, whatever and get it done. Don't act defensive, just be yourself going in for a called appt. And whatever you do, don't tell them you went out in this weather to get your hair cut, when you told them you couldn't drive because of the bad weather!! LOL
Hang in there girl,
Kat
I hope it works out and I'm sure it will!
Hugs, autumn
I have to say, I was shocked to read this. Granted, I am only been in the chronic pain world for two and a half years, but I have never been asked to provide a urine sample, account for my meds, or even have a sit down review. I have had three different pain mgmt. doctors. None of them has been very aggressive in managing me and my meds. They also have not done much, if anything, to get me any relief, but at least they are supportive and don't treat me like an addict or a suspected dealer.
Maybe patient rights are better supported here in California.
