How much Melatonin?

I think most of you know (from all my whining) that I am horribly sleep deprived. I'm thinking my elevated pain level has to do with the lack of deep, healing sleep.

Anyway...I just bought some Melatonin 3 mg. and it says to take one. If Trazodone can't keep me knocked out, how can this stuff? If any of you take Melatonin, could you let me know how much works for you? I'm ready to swallow the whole bottle.

Look it up on the internet, there may be blogs on it or type it in on this site.

I have taken it and it works for me, but not any better then a benadryl.

Yes, Cherry, I recall someone on the CP board talking about effective melatonin doses. If you have not already done so, you may want to try searching that board. Good luck with it and hugs.

That's not going to work for you cherry. It doesn't help with people who have serious sleep insomnia problems. And even if it was going to work it takes up to two weeks for melatonin tablets to work. Hugs

cherry, it does help me with insomnia...i have 3mg tablets and started with that...i now take 6mg if i'm not asleep by 12 or 1...as with any medicine or supplement, test it for yourself...i did take 3 at first, but would wake up after a few hours....
