The surgery day for bledpub/Rebecca is now less than a week away! It's time to crank up the support and make sure she's ready.
I was thinking that it might be helpful to start planning ways to keep her children calm and even a little distracted if they visit her in the hospital. So....how about if we put together a box of goodies for little ones to focus on so her hubby can spend as much time as possible with her.
Cookies...my first thought is ALWAYS cookies since I raised 3 sons who grew up thinking that there was no such thing as an empty cookie jar!. I'm going to start by making a batch of Gingersnaps. I use a recipe from my 95 year old Aunt. They can be 2 weeks old and tastes as good as the day they're baked. If anyone wants the recipe, I'll be glad to share it!
Lets get creative and fill the box with kid friendly distractions...not just the edible type. I'm sure my fellow hens will have some wonderful ideas. We still have a few days to help her get prepared!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
you can also get board games at thrift shops or make your own on a large grocery bag and tailor it to the occasion. and use little bottle caps or buttons.
make get well card kits with stickers. there are some cute coloring book pages on maryengelbreit.com and other sites.
create flash card games....

Today marks the 5 day countdown!!!! Quick...more stuff to entertain the little ones! I just added some Tootsie Pops and a box of those wet wipe things for sticky hands and faces.
Before Jan makes one of her comments...they can be used on children, too!

Sorry for the lack of activity on my part. The past two weeks have been really rough. I haven't written much but I do get on here everyday and read what ya'll have written! :-)
