Also, after helping our banks, we can start to build Capital goods rather than this disposable crud we call Consumer Capitalism and make goods that require less for more.
Finally, I would suggest making and buying Green Goods so we better help our environment as better stuarts of the environment and therefore create a better society.
So, as I wrap this notion up, I think we ought to revive and revitalize Capitalism by saving, buying Capital goods rather than consumer and make it Green. Please comment, your comments are welcome and always heard.

Sounds good in theory except that society has encourage individuals to spend more than what they had. Capitalism grew on make believe money and promisary notes until one day the bank called in payment on the debt and nobody showed up. It's no longer a matter of what we SHOULD do, it's a matter of do what we can. In laymens terms we're down and getting kicked.

I'm afraid we're headed for socialism which sounds great in theory but leads to communism and the confiscation of personal property and worse.

Capitalism isn't the problem, governmental requirements that forced banks to lend money to those who couldn't possibly pay it back or face being sued for discrimination is the problem. I guess the equal opportunity laws were changed so that if you didn't get a loan, you could sue claiming they violated your right to equal opportunity and you could ask for punitive damages that are often in the tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars.

The only way we're going to get through this crisis is to get back to living within our means which means not living on your credit card and paying the minimum payment while asking that your limit be raised. We're going to have to learn to do without the $4 lattes on the way to work and new wardrobes for every season along with cars that cost as much as my first house.

I think the auto industry is headed down the tubes and will have to be propped up by the government. Ford's stock was just over $2 a share Friday and GM's credit rating was downgraded to junk. There's no way this country or the world needs the number of new cars they produce every years.

We've overproduced stuff that we couldn't afford and now those jobs are going to be gone as we're forced to live within our means.

I can already tell you the auto industry tanked here long ago...I live in Michigan...it's just now trickling out to the rest of the world.......

One thing I want to say to all those that responded to my post is. . . thanks! Another tenant we might want to invest in is education. This usually happens during hard economic times, and if we targeted it toward entrepreneurs, it would follow we would have more business. Another pillar of strength to fall back on is Capital Goods, including Gold and Silver for money. This way we arn't just down and getting kicked, as in reply two, we can get more of a socialism that may lead itself toward not Absolute Socialism but perhaps an economic system where there is support for the poor(through private and public means), environment(through private and public means) and other issues too numerous to list here. Finally, I can tell you that although I agree that there is no such thing really as the rich giving the poor better jobs and hense a better life, I think we can set up the economic tenents such that even automobile production can become more at ease if we educate->empower and finally achieve dreams, and become a better society not overnight, but through rational discourse and empowerment.

P.S. I am not against Socialism(a lesser class division) or Communism(little to no class division), I just believe these are things much more thouroughly achieved without governmental influence, inasmuch as they have already in past occassions(e.g. U.S.S.R.). Thanks.
