I am in total confusion today.
Have been ignored by 4 ppl over the last 2 weeks & is all I was doing was being nice. WTH??
Of course the typical ignoring from semi ED & SIL
SIL's mom had befriended me over thanksgiving...reaching out & encouraging me to connect with GKs. Now seems to be backing off.
My ex had a cousin who now lives out of state. She had befriended me on fb a couple of years ago, actually said things about my ex. We have shared fb messages, but I got off fb for about 2 months (Nov. & dec). When I got back on, I messaged her wishing her well thru the holdidays...NO response. Messaged her a couple of more times in the last couple of weeks & nothing. WTH...I don't even see her so how could I have done something to offend her?
5 years ago this would have sent me in a tailspin...but today I just feel confused about how to treaat ppl. Ya never know if they are going to answer you or ignore. You just really don't know what it is that you are doing wrong. I have a great amount of good friends so I really don't think I am that difficult to be around, but then this stuff happens & ya just wanna lock the door & crawl under the blankets
I know what you mean, we have been shunned out of the blue without any explanation by a few people we considered were friends. All I can say is people are very odd these days and the types who do these things aren't worth bothering with. I have considered becoming a recluse to avoid the bother of expending energy on fake people.
Are you sure that your ED's cousin is actually ignoring you or just hasn't had the time for FB recently? Estrangement can make us super sensitive. Just a thought.
Every......I can see some connections with certain people (siL and ex) that may or may not be relevant to what you're feeling. And, as Charlottemaria said, estrangement can make us oversensitive at times. I think many of us here have felt like you and wondered about our past so-called "friends".
For a long time, when I would feel down about someone pulling away or when I found out someone I thought was a friend or a family member betrayed me, my dh would ask me, "Do you really want to be around them?" I really didn't, but I still wanted them in my life. Why.....I don't know.
Several months ago, I had an awakening and realized I was tired of all the nonsense....wondering why...what happened.......what did I do wrong.....and realized I know the things I did and do that are wrong and I also know the things I did and do that are right. I began thinking.....I am not such a bad person and dh was correct.....I really did not want to be around those people and I made a decision to start over.... to clean house.
Now this is a "faith" example but, bear with me. In one of my classes in Bible College, Principles of Ministry, the instructor said, "Sometimes you have to empty a church before it can be filled again." Do you see the correlation? Sometimes we have to let people leave our lives and even get to a point where we feel we have no "friends" or "family".
I won't deny it can be a lonely place, but that is when we discover things about ourselves, and we also begin to think clearer and see things more clearly. I even discovered I actually liked being alone, which I never had in the past. It felt like a cleansing and a time of refreshment had taken place. Instead of feeling alone, I became excited about what the future holds and the "new" people who will be coming into my life. Of course, at this point, we are much wiser regarding relationships and have a better sense of who we want in our lives and, now, we can certainly wait.....no longer feeling a need for instant gratification.
Just my thoughts. This may be the beginning of "good" thing happening in your life. Happy New Year!
ICG......you are such a wise and awesome lady! Empty before filling! A definite pre-requisite to a fresh start! Thanks for the "Aha" moment this morning! Hugs!
EBC.....many of us have experienced the "where did everyone go" syndrome, seems to come with the whole estrangement thing. We definitely learn the difference between acquaintances and true friends. I personally learned to listen more closely to my own instincts and "gut" when interacting with new and unknowns.....turns out my "gut" was smarter than I gave it credit for!
So all of us need to hitch up our boots and go bravely into this New Year.....Go 2015!
I feel the same way, and one of us do it to each other, when we know we are here because we are wounded, and they pile more rejection on us, well, that just isnt nice!
(((BIG HUGS))) to you dear.. here we are all loved and accepted...and that feels good!
At the sake of sounding Like a Loon: Everybody..................They are all nuts!!!! People today have their heads stuck so far up their butts they are clueless!!! AS for the FB thing...if you are Not friends with that person on FB It could have very well went into their Other email.....Which can sit there forever if they dont check the other email folder.....And if it didnt OH well the hell with them too.....Like I say once you have been shunned and screwed over and kicked to the curb by your own flesh and blood........the Rest of world are mere specs of dust to brush off your shoulders....
Yep! BTW you Cara & many others on here make me chuckle everyday. I wish there was a "chuckle" button similar to "like" on fb, cause usually I get such a kick out of the comments that are just too funny. Thx
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I wish that Facebook would just go away. This thing of friending and friending via cyberspace is cowardly and extremely harmful to the innocent victims. FB is a narcissistic playground, for the most part. All of our EOs are on there and use it to trash us at every level.
EC, you have the support of everyone here. We stand by your side.

Ab-so-Freakin'-LUTE-ly!!!! Plus, it's as addictive as crack and just about as harmful!!
So True papa!!! My FB consists of some real time friends...but mainly My Page is Strickly political. I never share one private detail of my life on there. These idiots who post pics of their Dinner and showing where they are ...How stupid can you be??? Why not just draw a map to your house and tell everyone what time you will be home......Idiots!!! And Putting up childrens pics to me is Insane!!! Does everyone need to brag that hard??? I get so pissed when I see people plastering their kids pics all over the place announcing they are a karate class, or dance class and giving the name of the place!! How ignorant can they be? Seriously???
I'd rather stick a hot poker in my eyes than go on facebook!
WTH do I have to brag about?....my EO being losers? Once people meet them, it wouldn't need to have anything posted much less a picture as to what losers they are!!!
Actually.....if you look up losers in the dictionary.....all my EO, my ex and his family's pictures are right there for the world to see :P
(hope that didn't sound to bitter...lol).
I got better things to do with my time...like watching the grass grow!
EC ~ wouldn't you rather have real people that are honest, loyal, and loving in your life than a bunch of phonie balogna's treating you like crap? I have traded up in my life....and I have to tell you.....I never want the wrong people in my life again....blood or not! I'm just getting too old for games and tears.
I love myself enough to just walk away and start over.
Life can be good again if you move forward and stop pulling the scab off the wound.
Know that you are loved and wanted here ((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))

I meant friending and un-friending.
