I have a weird holiday tradition or so I've been told. It's not a holiday for me until I see my favorite movies. For Halloween I have to watch Jeepers Creepers and Final Desitnation and Charlie Brown "The Great Pumpkin" at Christmas I must watch "Its' a Wonderful Life" and " A Christmas Carol" but it has to be the one with Alastair Simms no others are the same for me and I do not like the modern remakes!!!! Now this year I am bringing back an old favorite that I forgot about "Home Alone" one and two. Oh and when I decorate the tree I have to play "The Little Drummer Boy" I simply cannot decorate a tree without that song. And every year I have to listen to "Carol of the Bells" my favorite song ever other than Drummer Boy. I think I love to watch the movies and listen to the songs because they bring back memories of happy times and it just makes me feel so good all warm and fuzzy like coming home.
Please share some of your Holiday traditions weird, funny, heart warming, traditional. All Traditions are welcome.
We started a new tradtion when we moved to Northern Wisconsin several years ago. We call it "Christmas in July." My 4 adult steps & SO's live all over the country & don't much like coming up here in the dead of winter. So we decorate the house to the nines inside & out (much more pleasant in warm weather!), put on the Christmas music & movies, play yard games, canoe and enjoy sitting out on the deck catching up! We love to see them, and it's so much easier for them to plan out their holiday this way! Neighbors think it's great (thankfully). My EO's don't know what they are missing! Oh well...... !
Thanks pkin - it is fun. We shop after actual Christmas to get deals on the next years decorations! Running out of storage space, as we like to change it up every year!
Every year when me and hubby decorate the tree and the mantle.. I put on christmas music.. typically Amy Grant CD and Michael W. Smith. I sing.. ( I sing really well.. lol) .. Bob drinks eggnog ( spiked ofcourse) and I make him dance with me.
I wish we would have a White Christmas.. It was 64 degrees today............ it is gonna cool off, but I doubt we will have a white Christmas!
Are there any special dishes you make during the holidays?? Any holiday other than the usual. I like to make my Fried Raviolis for Thanksgiving not tradition but my signature appetizer.
It's snowing where you are PPB? Oh man I wish I was there. I do love snow.
Now that is a very cool holiday tradition, imo. Snow - it's new to me and I love it!! Enjoy it Greg and Michele - but I hope it doesn't mean you have to shovel anything - just be inside and all cozy while watching the snow drifting down softly. i've never seen a prettier sight - not ever.
What about the George C. Scott version? I like that one pretty well as well as the Alistair Sim version.
Have you had any snow up there yet. A white Christmas would be nice.

It's snowing today, but I really don't need it! Wish I were down in Texas for the next three months!
