Where is America going? We are no longer small towns and villages. We no longer have any strong focus on agriculture, and while family farmers try to survive, they compete against monolithic corporate farms (like Dole and Sayer American Foods).
Collegemomof2 reminded me that I live in the "disappearing America", and I am saddened when I return to western PA where I grew up... What was once farms and vast open spaces is now housing developments, big houses on postage stamp lots, and strip mall after strip mall of stores. Cranberry Township which is near where I grew up really is now a mini-Pittsburgh. Where cows once roamed is asphalt and buildings with the likes of WalMart, Toys R Us, and countless chain restaurants (the little organic diner didn't survive the competition).
I am so lucky to have cows as neighbors, and neighbors whose houses I cannot see. I am so lucky that when I went out last night looking for the New Moon which was hidden behind clouds, I could still see about a million stars with no city lights to overshadow them and compete for the night sky.

However, I must admit I do like that I only have to drive about 20 minutes to get to my local Walmart and buy my squirrel food! I was bummed when my local hardware store closed down, right after Walmart opened. But, it easier for me to have one place to go to get everything done, food, and supplies all at once. Life in America, the easier the better, we are a LAZY ASS group of people! LOL
Do we have any doughnuts at this coffe shop or what??? I am starving!
here's to hope... cause right now i think that's all we have, yes, i voted, so i have a duty to hope and to pray for our leaders. God help them !!!
We all need to collectively focus on the positive and start making a change in our own communities... We've done it before (pulled ourselves up by our bootstraps), and I believe we will do it again... If you have the opportunity, take a ride in the country...
