This is just to introduce myself. My husband was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's and we have had some difficulty if finding the right medication combination that will relieve his pain. I think we have finally found this combination, but it is hard when no one talks to you or will answer your questions directly. The other day the nurse practitioner called and gave me some very helpful information. Last night was the first night in what seems like forever that my husband was pain free for a small amount of time. I am so thankful to God for finally giving him some relief. When he is not in pain then he doesn't ramble and tell me how bad it is all day long.
I have a hobby. I like to crochet. I make blankets for homeless children at the church I attend. The church furnishes all the yarn, so all I do is go shopping for free and use their yarn. A bunch of us meet at the church once a month for 4 hours. It is a lot of fun and a time to not think about the daily stresses of my husband's disease.
Thank you for letting me in to your group. I am Grammagus and I love people.

I recently heard a great 2007 song the other day, "Falling Slowly" because it popped up in my newsfeed, accompanied by the sad news that the male singer, Glen Hansard, just died in a motorcycle accident. I learned that the song won an award and was featured in an indie movie called Once. I just watched it, and it's really good. They made it in 3 weeks on a $100,000 budget. It's streaming on...

as i read your intro, michael j. fox was on live with kelly and michael. i know he has a great foundation for parkinson's and a new show. i'm so glad that your husband had a little time pain free. there are also caregiver groups for you. i know from my mother being the main support for my father with alzheimer's that dealing with a partner with chronic illness that it can be very exhausting.
please join in as much as you can to this fantastic group!
You make such good use of your time, crocheting like that.
Im glad your husband slept well. I hope you are well and getting good rest, also!
My name is Snail, Snailor, or Dawn!!
I belong to a group at church that knits or crochets prayer shawls! I crochet.
It is a difficult road to being a caretaker. I am one for my son and quasi for my elderly parents. A friend just got his diagnosis of Parkinson's and now will journey the same path for answers as you and your husband are traveling.
Welcome again!
Hugs,
Joanne

I am a crocheter as well, I've posted pictures of some of my things and others have as well. Be sure to check out our group gallery. I'd love to see some of your afghans too. Right now I am crocheting for my 5 grandchildren and other family members for Christmas. I buy all my yarn at a thrift store so it is a very cheap and enjoyable way to do my Christmas 'shopping' Can't wait to get to know you better. Big hugs,
ssLisa
I will post some pictures when I figure out how.
Thanks again everyone.

Nice to meet you! I also am a fellow crocheter, when my hands permit.

Any of you people out there like to bake. I come up with some really weird things to bake and them my neighbor and her 2 year old daughter are my guinea pigs. They will try anything I make. I am a diabetic, so anything I bake is with artificial sugar. Some of it comes out pretty good.
Tomorrow I am going to make chocolate yeast bread and them put cocoa and sugar on it as if it were cinnamon rolls. So we will have chocolate rolls instead of cinnamon rolls. I will let you know how they turn out.
Everyone have a great rest of the day and a beautiful weekend.

that sounds like a trying outing with hubby. sometimes even a pleasant outing is just too much. you're very special for standing by him. i wish someone could help you out with those outings.
happy cooking!
hubby is lucky to have u by his side just don't forget to keep some time for yourself :)
I wish I could say I was a baker, but really my only successful forays into baking tend to come from buying a cake mix rather than doing it all by scratch. And with more of my family members having various dietary restrictions, it makes for a lot less fun at the holidays when it comes to making goodies for dessert... perhaps we should start a post for healthy dessert recipes or something like that?
Anyway, glad to have you here... I hope you enjoy it here too!
Hugs,
Tess
I am up again in the middle of the night as this is about the only time I have some peace and quiet to do as I please. I am about to go back to bed. Then temps here right now are cool enough not to use the air conditioner, but not cool enough to use the heater. However it gets quite stuffy as we cannot open the door in the middle of the nigh. The bedroom window is open, but the breeze that blows does not blow into my window. Oh well a couple more days and it will be just perfect. I love Phoenix, AZ.
I made my chocolate rolls. They turned out quite good and very flaky, but I could have used more cocoa in the dough. However not bad for a first try.
We have a cloud cover this morning but are not expecting rain. The high will only be in the mid 80's which is nice for Phoenix. We have nothing specific to do today. I will enjoy being at home as long as I can keep the door open. Construction across the street is sometimes too noisy.
Loves and hugs to all
