Pastor Mike thinks that it would be a good idea to know who the atheists are and keep track of them just like we keep track of sex offenders, radical Islamists, etc.
This way they can be targeted to receive “The Word” or in the alternative, if the Christians in the neighborhood don’t agree with their conduct, they can boycott their businesses.

"I mean, think about it. There are already National Registrys [sic] for convicted sex offenders, ex-convicts, terrorist cells, hate groups like the KKK, skinheads, radical Islamists, etc.." Stahl writes. "This type of 'National Registry' would merely be for information purposes."
I think the guy is insane - I don’t know maybe some people don’t. What do you think?

What Barb wrote is so true - years ago you knew what church people attended, and that's about it. No mega churches, televangelists, multiple cable networks showcasing less mainstream sects, the mistaken impression that the US is a Christian nation-Hogwash! People kept their beliefs to themselves and were not uncouth enough to presume to force their faith onto you. And we did not talk about religion or politics in polite company.
If memory serves this relative calm in religious rhetoric was before the time of the massive, TV churches such as Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, etc. All of a sudden, everything was public. And those who believe that it's their way or the highway felt it their duty to indoctrinate (inform) everyone else.
I long for the days of people with manners, Catholics and Methodists and Baptists and Jews who went to worship on their holy day, gave what they could to their church, helped their neighbors, and then shut up. It was private and meant to stay that way.
