We have an emergency alert system in my county that comes through on the television.

We have been having these alert every few days lately - we used to have them every few months.

Is anyone else experiencing increasing alerts lately?

This has been going on since bin Laden was killed.

Wow none here that I am aware of but I think it is such a good thing. Rather be safe than sorry.

I am not sure I would be receiving them. I have Direct TV receiver from Michigan. We get Detroit Channels.I don't have local TV. We get Channels you don't normally get in Florida, like Fox sports Detroit.

So, I'm assuming that they are tests of the emergency broadcasting system. Is that correct? 10:00 in the morning, I'm at work, so wouldn't be aware if they were happening or not.

And one more wonderful detail - I live near the Diablo Canyon nuclear plant that is 35 years old, and it was built on the San Andreas Fault - how smart was that?

So - I figure I'm toast some day :) But I should light up after the plant blows - I wonder what that will do for my skin..... :) and my hair.....

Nothing going on here. I live on Long Island. About 1/2 hour from Manhattan.
