It's not about getting the most, or most consistant respect. It's about treating others nicely.
I've been around the block enough times to see how bitterness and feeling constantly offended eats people up.
Without a doubt it's hard to go about in religious dress that is different. And Amish around me have been stared at, had pictures taken of their young children without permission, gotten snickers, etc, etc. And it's worse for the Muslims.
I have a great deal of respect for people who put up with that day after day after day after day.
