THIS WEEK’S BIGGEST HEADLINES:
- Pop/R&B singer/ “The Masked Singer” judge ROBIN THICKE and his model fiancée APRIL GEARY were involved in a two-car accident. Neither suffered any injuries.
- Actor JEREMY RENNER’s actress ex-wife SONNI PACHECO is seeking sole custody of the couple’s 6 year-old daughter Ava Berlin Renner. Pacheco is seeking sole legal and physical custody of their daughter and is requesting monitored visitation when Renner is with the child. It is unclear at this time why Pacheco is seeking to change the couple’s custody agreement or why she is suggesting Renner only be allowed to visit with their daughter with someone else present. Renner countered by also filing for sole custody of their daughter, setting up a potentially bitter custody battle.
CELEBRITY SIGHTINGS: Actress HAYDEN PANETTIERE was spotted holding hands with her ex-boyfriend BRIAN HICKERSON’s brother.
ACCUSED - THIS WEEK IN HARASSMENT/MISCONDUCT/ASSAULT ALLEGATIONS: NFL player/ “The Masked Singer” and “Dancing with the Stars” alum ANTONIO BROWN has been accused of rape by a former trainer.
RELATIONSHIP NEWS: Actress ZOOEY DESCHANEL is dating “Property Brothers” star JONATHAN SCOTT…”The Hills: New Beginnings” star BRODY JENNER has made his relationship with JOSIE CANSECO, the daughter of former MLB player JOSE CANSECO, Instagram official… Pop singer DEMI LOVATO and former “Bachelorette” contestant MIKE JOHNSON are “getting to know each other”.
ENGAGEMENTS: Actress/comedienne JENNY SLATE is engaged to artist/writer BEN SHATTUCK. The couple first went public with their relationship earlier this year…Singer/actor JESSE MCCARTNEY is engaged to KATIE PETERSON. The couple have been dating since 2012.
WEDDINGS/MARRIAGES: Country singer/“American Idol” season 15 winner TRENT HARMON married KATHLEEN COUCH in Nashville, Tennessee. The couple have been together for eight years.
BREAK-UPS/DIVORCES: Pop singer ADELE formally filed for divorce from husband SIMON KOENICKI.
CELEBRITY REVELATIONS: Former Olympian/reality star CAITLYN JENNER joked about her gender transition while participating in a roast of actor/tv host ALEC BALDWIN, saying “I didn’t cut it off”… Actress DEMI MOORE revealed that she suffered a miscarriage during her marriage to actor ASHTON KUTCHER… Pop singer LOUIS TOMLINSON admitted that he and his former One Direction groupmates used to regularly make up lies about who groupmate NIALL HORAN was hooking up with on tour, leading to many rumors Horan was bedding a number of celebrity women including singer ELLIE GOULDING, model BARBARA PALVIN, and British reality star LOUISE THOMPSON… Singer/tv personality CHRISTINA MILIAN admitted to hacking into tv host/comedian NICK CANNON’s phone for weeks while they were still dating just prior to their breakup. Cannon replied to the reveal by sharing that he actually did want her to catch him cheating… Comedienne/tv host ELLEN DEGENRES revealed while interviewing actor BRAD PITT that she once dated one of his exes, though she did not mention which of his many exes she was referring to… “Keeping up with the Kardashians” star KIM KARDASHIAN WEST said she got in trouble with rapper husband KANYE WEST after she let their 6 year-old daughter North wear makeup… Rapper TRAVIS SCOTT and reality star/business mogul KYLIE JENNER say that having a baby hasn’t hurt their sex life… “The Masked Singer” panelist JENNY MCCARTHY and her “Blue Bloods” actor/New Kids on the Block singer husband DONNIE WAHLBERG have renewed their vows every year since they first got married.
LEGAL WOES: Former “Southern Charm” star THOMAS RAVENEL will avoid jail time after pleading guilty to assault and battery charges. Ravenel agreed to a $500 fine and a 30-day suspended jail sentence and will be on probation in lieu of jail time… Actress FELICITY HUFFMAN was sentenced to 14 days in federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud in her role in the college admissions scandal. Huffman was also ordered to pay a $30,000 fine and 250 hours of community service.
CELEBRITY FEUDS: Actor/tv host JAMES CORDEN fought back against comments made by fellow tv host/comedian BILL MAHER on his own show suggesting that fat-shaming should make a comeback. Corden used his own talk show to reply to Maher’s comments, saying “There’s a common and insulting misconception that fat people are stupid and lazy, and we’re not. We get it, we know. We know that being overweight isn’t good for us and I’ve struggled my entire life trying to manage my weight and I suck at it. I’ve had good days and bad months. I’ve basically been off and on diets since as long as I can remember and, well, this is how it’s going [pointing at his own body]. We’re not all as lucky as Bill Maher. We don’t all have a sense of superiority that burns 35,000 calories a day.” After airing another clip of Maher mocking obesity, saying, “It’s not just about being able to see a doctor. It’s also about being able to see your dick,” Corden retorted, “Believe me, I can see a dick.” Corden went on to say, “Bill, I sincerely believe that what you think you’re offering here is tough love… but the truth is [that] you’re working against your own cause. It’s proven that fat shaming only does one thing: It makes people feel ashamed. And shame leads to depression, anxiety and self-destructive behavior – self-destructive behavior like overeating. A lack of shame is not the issue here… Until we make healthy food and health care more accessible, and we c properly educate people on nutrition and exercise, maybe we can hold back on the whole ‘call fat people virgins until they lose weight’ strategy. While you’re encouraging people to think about what goes into their mouths, just think a little harder about what comes out of yours.”
BABY NEWS: Actor BILL SKARSGARD revealed he has an 11 month-old daughter with girlfriend ALIDA MORBERG… Actor ALLEN LEECH and his wife JESSICA BLAIR HERMAN announced they are expecting their first child together… “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” actress RACHEL BLOOM announced she is expecting her first child… Actress KEIRA KNIGHTLEY and her musician husband JAMES RIGHTON welcomed their second child together, no other details were revealed. The couple are also parents to 4 year-old daughter Edie.
THIS AND THAT: Pop singer SAM SMITH announced wants to be referred to by the pronouns “they” or “them” rather than “he” or “him”. Smith came out as gender non-binary earlier this year.
HEALTH ISSUES: Actor/“Home and Family” cohost CAMERON MATHISON revealed he has been diagnosed with renal cancer. He underwent surgery to remove a tumor on his kidney this week but noted prior to the surgery that it was caught before spreading so his prognosis is good… Actor/comedian KEVIN HART has been released from hospital ten days after suffering injuries in a major car crash that required him to undergo surgery on his back.
DEATHS: Actor JOHN WESLEY, a veteran character actor who appeared in over 100 roles including on sitcoms such as “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” and “Martin”, and dramas such as “JAG” and “Hill Street Blues”, died from complications due to a long battle with multiple myeloma. He was 72… Actor ROBERT AXELROD, a veteran character actor best known for voicing Lord Zedd and Finster in the kid’s tv series “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” and its subsequent film, died of unspecified cause. He was70… Rock singer/musician EDDIE MONEY, best known for hit songs such as “Two Tickets to Paradise”, “Take Me Home Tonight”, “Baby Hold On”, and “Walk on Water”, died from complications from heart valve surgery. He was 70.

Did anyone really need to know that Caitlyn Jenner still has a penis? Also, not to be offensive to the transgender community, but how can someone be declared legally a woman if she still has a penis? No biological woman has a penis... so why does a court allow someone to change their gender legally after only having hormone therapy and breast augmentation? Breasts aren't what makes a woman a woman - plenty of men have man boobs and there are women who have had to have mastectomies due to cancer but losing their breasts doesn't make them less of a woman, so why is that the defining thing that a court allows a legal gender change on?
Usually when a boy band makes up stories about one member's love life, that guy is actually gay (think Jonathan Knight "dating" Tiffany or Lance Bass "going out with" Danielle Fischel), so is Louis (who usually was the one presumed to be gay along with Harry Styles - at least according to fan fiction) trying to "out" Niall??
Why did Ellen mention that she dated one of Brad's exes if she wasn't going to tell anyone which of his many exes she was referring to?
Hate to say I agree with Kanye, but 6 year-olds don't need to wear makeup. Why get them started believing they need it at such a young age?

I watch Bill Maher every week and I too had an issue with his fat shaming piece. Some people like myself have health issues that make it difficult to lose weight (I'm like the only person who can get a stomach flu and gain 5 lbs. instead of lose 5 lbs.) and even though we eat like birds and eat as healthy as possible for not being wealthy and able to afford a personal chef and only the best, non-processed, cleanest food and we workout, we still are overweight. I've been overweight for most of my life, even as a kid I was on the higher end of normal and once puberty hit, forget about it. The last thing I need is for someone else to call me fat - I already know what I look like, how much I weigh, and that I can't manage to move the needle on the scale no matter what I try. Fat shaming doesn't somehow spur people to lose weight, it just encourages worse behaviors. Why is it even okay to bully people for their weight? You can't say anything to anyone else anymore about anything without being called out as a racist, sexist, misogynist, etc. but it's somehow okay to fat shame people? There are many reasons people are overweight and for many of us, it's not because we gorge on fast food and junk food and spend all day just playing video games and being lazy. I really wish Bill Maher would apologize for his comments, but as someone who watches his show, I know he never will.
Surely if Sam Smith doesn't want to be known as he, then the better choice of pronoun would be it rather than they. They implies there are two or more people being referred to, so using they is grammatically incorrect, no?
