The new season of Doctor Who starts on Saturday, August 23 – a week from today.
Since our group’s founder TES9579 suggested starting a Doctor Who discussion thread in advance I figured I’d take the initiative so that we could talk about previous seasons now before the new one begins.
I figured we could bring up whatever we wanted, but just to get the ball rolling, I’ll include some questions/topics we can use to start:
1) Who is your favourite companion and why?
2) Which episode is your favourite and why?
3) What do you like about Doctor Who?
4) Do you have any predictions for this season, such as where they might go, famous historical figures they might meet, etc...?
5) What would you like to see happen on Doctor Who – would you like them to travel to a specific time period, visit a specific historical figure, etc...?
This last question may not be of interest to a lot of people – I’m often criticized for bringing things like this up – so feel free to skip it if you wish.
6) What do you think of the messages in Doctor Who?

It still chokes me up. I had tears in my eyes again. I love Ted Lasso and would highly recommend watching it if you can. It is on Apple TV now season 4 episode 1 dropped on Wed and will continue dropping each Wed until season ends some time later this year.I must add I will gladly be paying the $19.99 per month to get these shows each week after my free 30day trial of apple tv ends from buying a...

So is the end of Clara good news or bad? And who should they cast as the new companion - someone previously seen on the show or someone brand new? Any thoughts?
Here's the caveat though - Moffat will still be in charge for the upcoming 10th season (Chibnall won't take over until the 11th season) but that season won't air until Spring 2017. There will be a Christmas Special this year but no regular season episodes because the BBC seems to think there are enough big events going on this year or some bull like that. My guess is this probably is a similar situation to Moffat putting off a new season of "Sherlock" because he can't do both at the same time and both require a lot of time devoted to them; since "Sherlock" was backburnered for "Doctor Who" last year, he's returning the favor this year and the BBC is okay with that plan. At least that's my guess, aside from what the BBC woman did say about the whole big events in 2016 thing, I've got nothing more to go by.
There's no word yet on whether Peter Capaldi will stick around past season 10 yet. We know he will have a new companion though we don't know who or when that character will be introduced. He might decide to do like David Tennant and leave with the only showrunner he's worked with, thus rebooting the entire show (well, depending on whether the new companion they bring in in season 10, assuming they bring a regular companion in to begin with, whether that person stays on for season 11 or not).
I don't know about anyone else, but after the silliness that became Clara's "end" - basically undoing the sad shock of what should have been her fate - and the bringing back of the Master as Missy only to basically drop her like a box of rocks, and the obsession with certain characters to the point where The Doctor feels like a supporting actor in his own series, I'm more than ready to see the Moffat era end. I wish it was coming before 2018 to be honest, but I guess I will just be relieved it's coming to an end at all.

I was kind of hoping for a change we'd get a male companion for a while or at least an older woman or even perhaps a companion that isn't human but some other alien species, now that would be different... but no, same old same old apparently that's Moffatt's idea of being different by being basically the same as you've had since "New Who" started up. I cannot wait until he is no longer the one making these decisions so maybe we could see something actually new, different, and exciting again.
