Terminal illness support group Community Group
This group is open to all who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness. It is a safe haven where you can vent, cry, laugh, or simply sit back and read and gain inspiration from daily posts. You will make many friends here as we journey together. This is a place where hope will be offered on a daily basis. When you can go no further this group will help carry you...
I was watching the news this morning and the supreme overturned the ban on assisited suicide. They did say it would take about a year to take affect. Just to clarify , this is in Canada..
it's not like you go to a dr & they insert needles & put you down like our pets.
there is an "advocate" that works with the patient from begining to end.
there is a choice of 2 different meds (pills) that you get an overdose prescription & then can put away until you decide to use it.
one lady had a date planned as she had cancer, but she felt so good that she put off doing it for another year, but always "knew" the meds & advocate where there any time she chose"
so she had this bunch of pills & the advacote (kind of reminded me of a hospice nurse) come to her home when she "chose",
the patient got comfy, they mixed up all the pills into a drink, patient drank it, layed down & within 15 minutes fell asleep & was gone....
so it is done at home, with the one nurse, you can have family or not there---
it was weird to watch, but interesting & informative & gave me things to think of.
it may not be what i want, but seems like it a choice that ti people should have the right to.
