I can breathe okay other than sinus congestion. I know some of you had respiratory problems. I have old granulomas disease in my lungs which was discovered by a rheumatologist.

Yep, I feel like that's happened to me! :( so scary and so uncomfortable. The hard part is getting anyone to believe me!! I feel like its more if a sensation feeling, because my o2 level is always 99%

I think it's similar to the throat situation. It hurts and feels likes there's some kind of obstruction when I'm swallowing when it's probably the surrounding muscles are weak and sore. When you breathe, it could be that your respiratory muscles are so sore that they have to work extra hard to help you breathe which makes you exhausted. It scares you and gets you in a state of heightened alert because you're afraid each episode will leave you in a critical state of breathlessness. Hope I never have to experience that. Beck I have a consultation for my sleep study in Sep. I can't wait! My doctor referred me to see a pulmanoligist to r/o any lung disorder, she thinks its very unlikely but she's wants to cover all the bases. She thinks my weight is a contributing factor unfortunately I carry dome weight in my belly :( so I'm working on getting back down to my normal weight. Hope all is well with you :)

It`s funny that all the time I was able to work I had no problems with my breathing .But since I have been disabled I have been having all sorts of respratory problems .I was diagnosed last year with asthma .Never had it before but all of a sudden now I have it .I wonder if it is related to the SM . When I was first dianosed with SM I had times when it felt like I was having a heart attack ,it usuallt started in my back and then progressed to my chest .It was like some one was sitting on my chest and reaching into my chest and squezzing my heart .I asked my NS about it and he said it was a symptom of the SM . Just thought you would like to know .

I don't really have chest pain, but I always feel like I can't take a normal satisfying breath, obviously I am, I'm not turning blue! Lol. My 02 levels are always normal and I've even had a blood gas test where they take blood from and artery and test the oxygen levels. Normal too. They diagnosed me with asthma too, the inhalers don't work for me and just make me shaky. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend :)

I get the shakes too ,hate them .It is funny every time they check my 02 levels they are usually up around 95-99% so I am getting air just can`t breathe sometimes .Usually when I am trying to do something that requires physical exertion like mowing or lifting things on a hot or humid day .I know I am not supposed to be lifting any thing that weight more than a gallon of milk but sometimes you just have to .

I'm not a dr. but maybe it's muscle or spinal cord related. I have no reflexes in my arms because on reflexes it's a message sent from your spinal cord directly to your hands (like if you touch something hot). It doesn't come from your brain first. That's why I have no reflexes because my spinal cord is out of whack. Maybe, it's something like that, you have weak and tired muscles surrounding your lungs, or your SM is acerbating your asthmatic symptoms. Hope you get some relief soon. Hang in there!

Last time they checked all my reflexes were normal though. I see the pulmanologist tomorrow to r/o any lung disease. The breathing problem was my biggest complaint when I was diagnosed two years ago, for nine months it subsided and wasn't a bother but three months ago it came back full force. During this time so did my stress level. My marriage was rocky, we moved and basically doubled all of our bills, and my Gma's lung cancer came back :( I also think a slight portion of the problem could be due to the fact that I do have asthma and allergies, and its that season. People can still live normal lives with a slight decreased lung function right? My neighbor only has one lung he recently got one removed and he's in his late 60's and he gets along great. I'm just so scared for my future considering I'm only 28. :(

My brother smokes and survived a collapsed lung, so I guess it's possible. Keep us posted.

Definitely, this is so scary. Mine started in January. My husband took me to the ER because my breathing difficulty was getting worse and worse. My O2 was 100%. Just like the next 2 times I was taken to the Er. My Dr. Says that I have asthma and I have a rescue inhaler and a nebulizer at home. Sometimes they help. But often find myself having trouble breathing and no one truly understands. :(
