For me, here is how I find my messages. Move your cursor over to your screen name up top left after you have signed in. A list of things to do with your profile and account should appear to the left. Look down to My Messages. If you have messages, it will say so there. You can click on My Messages to see the list of messages and then it works like email.
I understand how at bottom and hopeless and dark where you are can feel. Everyone hurt by these Ns and Ps goes through this, to varying degrees. We've been there and we want to help. That's why we are here on this board. We get that friends and family around you just can not understand unless they have been through it too. It seems hopeless, but somehow it does get miraculously better, though that can take a lot longer than we expect or want. Still, it happens.
There are many answers to how to recover. I found that taking baby steps helped. The first thing I did for myself was to do things that pleased me at the 5 senses level, just to have some pleasure in my life that did not involve emotions or other people. I could not handle the stimulation or risk of emotions or other people at that point. I went walking in beautiful parts of nature, places I find beautiful and relaxing. I had to drive there, but it was worth it. I had the rooms I spend the most time in painted a color I found made me happy. Try to remember what you used to enjoy before the N or P entered your life. Or maybe things you always wanted to try, but never did. Do those. Light exercise is good, hiking, walking, swimming, etc. I spent time on a comfortable couch, escaping, reading, watching TV, being calm.
After the brain can calm, things start to look just a little better and manageable. Then, you can start to learn more about what else you can do to recover. Step-by-step, you can feel better. And one day, things just seem better. You will feel joy again. It may be hard to imagine right now, cruel to contemplate even because you don't believe it, but it somehow happens. Just believe that you don't have all the answers today, but you will in time. It will get better. You just have to commit to waiting and seeing.
