Now this guy is obviously the lowest of the low. That said, international courts have given him JUST 40 years. In the US, he'd have been more likely to get 400,372 years (or some other unrealistic possibility).

Woke up feeling very emotional and about to clock in at my place of employment. And can't place it all in writing but not been a good experience with my store manager or his boss. Defamation of my character is a concern. I've been losing appetite and weight. Trying to perform at work to keep myself from hospitalization as a result of toxic masculinity.

I had another buddy who was sentenced to 70 years for methamphetamine possession. He always joked that he received a harsher sentence than Manuel Noriega, the Panamanian leader and military guy who was convicted of drug trafficking in Panama several years ago. Noriega only received 40 years, which I believe was later reducted to 30 years.
Both went to trial, lost, and were harshly punished by an Oklahoma jury.
In America, and especially in the Bible Belt, we warehouse people and just let them rot in prison even for nonviolent crimes.
Let me explain how and why this happens. Prosecutors----DAs and federal prosecutors----use a form of "judicial blackmail" on the accused. They will tell the accused, "Take this plea deal. If you will plead guilty for 10 years, I will drop the other nine charges and you will only be convicted on one count. But if you decide to go to trial, I will file all 10 counts and ask the jury to find you guilty on each separate count. Then I will ask the judge to run each count consecutively instead of concurrently."
What do most men do, even if they are innocent? When a guy is looking at 80 years if he goes to trial and loses verses 10 years if he signs a plea, most will sign the plea. Most defendants cannot win an acquittal at trial even if they are innocent, so the idea of rolling the dice and proceeding at trial is a scary idea indeed.
