I have been away from the board here for a few days as I have been very busy with other boards, but I do have something I want to share with you.
Recently we had a discussion about Joyce Gilchrist and how, in tandem with Bob Macy, they managed to convict hundreds upon hundreds of innocent men. Well, Oklahoma also handed down some ridiculous sentences.
That was just how it was in Oklahoma in the 1990's. Oklahoma is a very conservative, Bible Belt state, and anyone even remotely accused of a sex crime was usually convicted and had the book thrown at them.
To exemplify this, I gave two examples. If I just told you about them, you would swear I was lying so I am supplying links.
Both these guys I did time with at the medium security prison. I knew Darron and talked to him often as he was a tutor and we worked in the same classroom. I did not know Timothy well except to say hi, but I was familiar with his case.
These examples will show you how crazy Oklahoma was and is.

This is what we had to put up with back then in Oklahoma. I thank God that I only received 20 years even though I was innocent.

Which explains the mysterious fevers and my extra fatigue. I'm so glad I pushed for answers.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.
The thing about sex crimes that bothers me a lot is the BS that people have to go through to have DNA tested... No one asks for the govn to pay for it post conviction... Advocate organizations or the individual would pay for it... Trying to get it tested is a nightmare as courts NEVER want to be wrong... I get very disheartened with the human race at times... People can be very cruel
We have 25 year and 10 year life sentences here and someone labelled a dangerous offender can receive a full life sentence however the only people that I have ever see receive that is serial killers

I'm sorry for the harsh sentence you received. I agree, bible belt sentences tend to go for the big numbers.
I agree. I'm glad you use your experience for the better direction of the system, it truly makes a positive difference!
