FBI Operated Child Porn Web Site and Distributed C

""For nearly two weeks last year, the FBI operated what it described as one of the Internet’s largest child pornography websites, allowing users to download thousands of illicit images and videos from a government site in the Washington suburbs.""

Countless times we have discussed LE misconduct on this forum. Several times I have been chided for my stance on the police, even though I have made it clear that the LE I have a problem with are those in the upper echelon of enforcement and not the cops on the beat.
This situation is a prime example of my stance. Anyone foolish enough to think we should give these LE "the benefit of the doubt" either is biased or just foolish----or even stupid.
The people in the upper levels of law enforcement play by their own rules and have no problems violating the Constitution, which is the very document they have sworn to uphold. From "parallel investigations" to "hacking", the FBI is adept at crossing the line.
There has always been a debate of whether looking at a CP image re-victimizes the victims. LE---and the FBI----will be the first in line to clamor that each and every time an image is viewed that the victim is re-victimized and it leads to their pain. Hell, they even support restitution for the victims in these cases even though the downloader is not the proximate cause of their pain and suffering.
Now we have this. Either the FBI does not really believe it's own B*ll Sh*t of re-victimization or they don't care; it is undeniable that CP was exchanged while they had complete control of the servers of the site.
The FBI are----for want of a better term---liars and sometimes a rogue organization. They do not give a damn about those being abused in the CP images or videos. Oh, they put up good front for the public---the endless "for the children" argument--- in an effort for people to continue to support their effort, but their real goal is to make as many arrests as possible regardless of the means used.
One of the reasons the FBI places so much emphasis on these types of crimes is economic. "Cybercrime is one of the priorities for the FBI, which has 13,260 special agents across the country, including on Oahu, Maui and Hawaii island, according to the agency. The FBI had an $8.3 billion budget in fiscal 2014."
They have to continually demonstrate that they are doing something to justify their budget. I could not find how much of that $8.3 billion dollar budget is allocated to cybercrime, but a portion certain is.
So what happens now??
The government will have wasted taxpayer money with these excursions and created themselves some federal jobs, so some "special agent" can sit on his ass, find another CP suspect, determine his IP address, obtain a warrant and then have a dozen agents in a SWAT team raid the suspect's house They will then proceed to act like armed hooligans, and arrest someone. Oh, with the budget they can purchase even more toys and expensive software to catch even more low level users.
Most of these arrests are low level users or those who are curious or bored. Nothing done here will make a dent in the CP problem in this country. But FBI agents will slap each other on the back for a job well done, the "sheeple" of this country will applaud that a child pornographer has been caught, and not one dent has been made in the problem of child pornography.
The mass distributors or the producers of this filth are never arrested or prosecuted. Spending so much money to prosecute these low level offenders, placing them in prison @ $30,000 or more a year, and ruining their lives AND their families and children's lives is a terrible misuse of budget funds.
Don't get me wrong. I am not in favor of CP, but I also do not support LE hacking sites, infection people's computers, obtaining a blanket warrant, AND actively running a CP site AND while doing so, allowing CP to be traded and distributed.
Arresting and spending so much money and using so many resources for some low level users of CP is just a viscous cycle and it does not address the problem.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

""In a court filing, a lawyer for one of the men arrested after the FBI sting charged that “what the government did in this case is comparable to flooding a neighborhood with heroin in the hope of snatching an assortment of low-level drug users.”

I do believe the police need very strict policing... It's a job that holds a ton of power and control and also one of the careers that has the highest number of sociopaths....People need to stay on top of things like this... You can't say child porn is a despicable crime and then use that pornography for your own ends... Not cool!!
I don't know the answer rew.... I was a molested child and it's a big deal... It stays with you for the rest of your life even if you can sort of put it to rest
I think that they probably believe they're doing this for the sake of the children however the people need to stand up and open their eyes to government control... Big brother is everywhere now and I know you suffered terribly due to one of the many huge mistakes that they make
