Colorado, Eighth Graders, and the Sex Offender Reg

I received an email from one of my contacts regarding this story out of Colorado---

From the article-----" Penalties for underage sexting vary from state to state. In Colorado, minors caught trading nude photos are legally susceptible to harsh child pornography charges."
It does not take someone with a PhD in rocket science to know that kids sending naked pictures of themselves across cyberspace is NOT child pornography.
What in the hell is wrong with this country??? I doubt any eight grader will ever be placed on the registry in Colorado for sexting, but the mere mindset of those that think up these laws is horrifying.
We have completely lost our collective minds in this country when it comes to sex offenses or crimes we want to label as sex offenses.
Critical thinking skills or just plain ol' common sense have been lost somewhere.

Which explains the mysterious fevers and my extra fatigue. I'm so glad I pushed for answers.

Due to my increased paranoia, anxiety, and a panic attack over the weekend, my psychiatrist has put me back in a full dose of Zyprexa until further notice. Every time I think I'm getting ahead something happens and it's back to square one. I knew he was gonna do this but I can't help feeling disappointed. It is what it is.

To me this is a parenting issue. No cell phone unless you're 100% sure that your kid can handle it.
My kids have lived without cells, road their bikes miles away on the road without cells, been home alone without cells.
I think that parents have done a really really poor job of parenting if their 12 year old kids can't function without a cell phone. EVEN if it's on the side of an icy road miles from home.
Do I speak for personal experience? Why yes! I was 12, miles from home...and dealt with it.
Read Little House on the Prairie. Laura Ingalls was even more remote, for longer periods of time, in charge of younger children...and dealt with it.
There has NEVER been a safer time in the country to be a kid...fewer dangers to kids (INCLUDING abductors).
The real dangers to kids are within the home. And a cell phone won't help with that.
