Have you had a bone scan done this year?
One of my Dr.s suggested that pain meds.cancer meds. and so on can cause your bones to weaken.
Vitamin D defincey is a favorite in resent dx's. osteopenia, phorisis, and arthris. just to name a few. but as far as I've ever heard they don't burn.
Do wait around to long with this kind of pain, you fall on those steps and your going to be in worse trouble.Get it checked.
out.
I agree, since this is a new symptom you need to get it checked out. Sometimes you have to push a doctor to get them to hear you.
He is probably writing it off to your back problem, but something has changed to cause this increase in pain and someone needs to run some test for you.
Sorry this is happening. Sending positive energy and prayers. Hugs-RJ
Ducky and myself hip/thighs have been killing us and we've been trying to get a little more exercise. It seems to be helping me as long as I just do a tiny bit. It's agony at first then tapers off some.
Have someone put a rail up for those stairs! We don't want you breaking anything.
Lots of comfort and hugs,
Toni
Yesterday I had to go out to pick up a script at the pharmacy. As I was going out the door bf was talking to me and I started down the stairs but was having problems. He offered to drive me so I accepted and I"m so glad I did. We ran out of gas only 1/2 a block from home. He was able to get the van off the road with no power steering and no power brakes - I would not have been able to do that. We had to walk back home and, boy, was that ever NOT fun. Only 1/2 a block and I could barely do it. My leg was so weak and sore. By the time he got gas in the van I wasn't up for the trip out again so I still have to go get my script. I live on a 3rd floor walk-up so going out is a bit of a challenge.- two flights of stairs then those two steps outside with no rail. I will be talking to the landlord about that. For now I just have to make sure I have someone nearby to help me. I sure don't need another reason to feel useless but I wasn't given a choice on this.
Has anyone experienced this kind of muscle weakness? It is scary. It feels just like my right calf did when I first had sciatica. It took about a year and a half to get the strength back in that leg. I don't want this.
I started getting weakness and pains like your describing when the docs found that nodule in my low spine. Its wierd cause i wont need my cane around the house for a few weeks then i can't put much weight on it at all and then i have to use it for a few weeks agian.
I hope you can find out whats going on. I don't know if you do yoga but it could help
hugs
How long has this pain been happening?? Is it with you 24+7 but eases up with rest etc? Does it feel deep or surface? Is it on one side more or a particular area more?
Jan mentioned nerve pain...that can certainly be. However, there are so many other things that may be contributing or causing this. I would be concerned about a DVT in your thigh, Compression of a nerve root from your Lumbar region, death of muscle, entrapped ligament etc.
It sounds more serious than the general nerve pain that many of us experience. The fact that it is better lying down--but, walking / standing increases the pain makes me think that it might be more of an entrapped nerve root.
I would definately get this addressed with the doc asap. I'm so sorry for your new pain--it is the last thing that any of us need.
Much support and hugs to you!
The pain started Monday of last week but has eased up alot for the most part; I still have the weakness. It does get worse the longer I'm on it. I don't go out by myself at all now and bf drives me everywhere, even short trips. I'm scared I'll fall and not be able to drive myself back home. Yesterday we went out to get milk and check out the sales at the grocery store. I walked more than I have in the last couple weeks. At the grocery store I had a cart to push so with that support I was ok walking around for 10-15 minutes. At the end of it I was desperately looking for bf but not wanting to walk around anymore because I had burning sciatica pain all the way to my foot in my left leg - this is not the leg I originally had sciatica in and this is the first time this pain went down past my knee... it scared me. Mostly because I'm already taking all the pain meds and Lyrica that got me through the worst of the sciatica before.
Bf showed up and we left, I made it up all the stairs at home and then spent the evening in bed. Bf wouldn't let me budge except to move to the living room to watch TV. This morning the pain is better again. I can still feel it a bit but the weakness is gone for now. It just seems to kick in when I'm up on my feet and I can feel it worsening with each step I take.
What can be done for nerve entrappment - is that something that requires surgery?
