Well I am still waiting to get my benefits started up again after my failed attempt to return to work in February. I got a call today from my insurance lady and she had a ton of questions for me. They have had all the reports from doctors and physio for 2 weeks now but she wanted to add some 'clarity' to it all. I was just on my way out the door to my niece's grade 9 graduation, I had my grandson with me and had to buckle him into his seat while I was talking to her. Luckily BF was driving and also put Noah in his seat for me, I just did the buckles and talked on the phone for about 1/2 hour.
First she was baffled why I couldn't work after having my work space ergonomically modified. I had to explain that it wouldn't matter what they did I cannot sit - period. And I cannot stand for very long either so rotating between sitting, standing and kneeling still didn't work for more than 2-3 hrs and that was with considerable pain. I reminded her of the PM docs letter that stated I would not likely ever be able to do a job that is highly sedentary. Then she got onto the topic of other types of work and what could I do. I tried to explain that I cannot even do my own housework, and until I can I can't imagine what kind of job I could do.
Then of course she started questioning me on what I can and can't do around the house and if I can't then who does it. I explained that my boyfriend does most of my housework. She also knew I had my grandson with me so she asked how I managed to care for him... I only have him for short periods of time and only when my BF is available to help me... and on and on and on with the questions.
It felt like she was trying to catch me in some kind of lie or trying to trick me to admit doing things I've claimed I can't do. Everything I told her was the truth and she kept asking what was the plan, what treatment options are available, what specialist could I see, and what are my back to work plans. She knows I see the PM doc again in August so she asked if I would discuss with him getting another MRI and if there is any other treatment or specialist I could try. I'm so tired of having to explain myself over and over and being treated like I'm trying to cheat the system. I know there are so many that do it that it makes it hard for us who are honest and really need disability benefits. Grrrrrrrr!
Anyway, she said that she still needs to get a medical opinion on my claim but she should have an answer for me by the end of the week or first of next week at the latest. I hope it is very soon.... 4 months without money is ridiculous! I know so many go alot longer but I have no one else bringing money into my household, I'm alone and if it weren't for my BF I'd have lost my apartment long ago.
Please pray for me, send positive energy, whatever you believe in.... I need this to be a positive outcome.

Insurance companies always have those mottos like "We're there when you need us" or some other crap. It is crap. They are there to make money, period!
As you said, there are many people who defraud the system and who work around it for years even. My aunt was a supervisor for a widely known insurance company for 20 years. Her job was to "catch" the frauders. You would be amazed at all the stories she has. I know the questions suck and it double sucks having to explain yourself again and again. YES, she is trying to catch you in a lie, that is her job! However, your story is the same because the issues are true. She can try all she wants too.
I was wondering...since you state that you cannot do any type of job, why don't you also apply for SSD? That is a long process too but, in the end, it will be where you have to go anyway. Once your insurance realizes that you will not be returning to work PERIOD...they will cut you off.

I got to the point that I decided to put it all in God's hands and trust Him to take care of me. I also refused to let it consume every waking moment I had. I finally was able to RELAX!
You have those prayers and support from me. Know that through all of this you are a survivor!
