A while ago, I decided to leave the doc I've been seeing for a couple years and return to the clinic in my town. I did it the right way...explained to my doc that the travel distance, especially in the Winter, was too much for me. She was completely understanding and we left on a very good note.
I signed the release of records paper and had an appt. set up with a NP for 2 weeks later. When I got there, my records hadn't been sent so she wouldn't/couldn't write scripts. I saw her again at the end of the week and, after a phone call from her nurse, the records had arrived, but she hadn't looked at them yet!
Anyway, I explained to her that I'd reduced my Fentanyl from 50mcg. down to 12mcg., but when ever I tried stopping completely, I ended up in terrible pain on the second patch free day. I told her I didn't have enough to make it until my appt. with her on the 6th. She said to call Monday if I needed more. Well...I did. I actually talked to her and her attitude was completely different. She said she had to talk to some 'others' about it and couldn't say for sure that she'd prescribe it! I told her that the following day, it was going to hit and I HAVE to work this week!
She promised to call me back after her powwow with...whomever! I never heard a thing from her and I'm in so much pain this morning that I can hardly stand it. I have a full morning booked and can't afford to reschedule everyone. If she'd check my records, she'd see I've never abused my meds and often not bee able to tolerate the stronger ones.
What am I supposed to do now??? If I call today, will I look like a drug seeker??? I'm certainly not! I'm thinking I may have been better off staying where I was.

Not sure what her hesitation is, but I'd just ask. I'd tell her to look at your record and see that you don't abuse your meds. I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this.
If she still doesn't call today, maybe call the doc you left and explain the problem, and see if they'll refill for you one last time, until you can talk some sense into the new NP. Wishing you the best. xx
I have my next appt. on Tuesday and maybe she will have looked at my records by then! I might have to find a doctor instead of a NP at this clinic. I really hate feeling like this.

Don't wait til Tuesday...call your old doc and make an appt with them. If you don't need it fine but you'll be covered.
you might post this on the big board and newbies can see....don't cut your old doc loose til you have a script in hand from the new doc! Dirty dogs! I'm so sorry cherry!!!! I know how you feel...but whatever it takes to get your meds! Call both docs asap. If you find you are in trouble with NO refill posibility go to the ER. You cannot just stop this med....like most all meds...oh hon so so so sorry!! Make some calls asap and I pray you get help. This new doc sounds like a jerk!!!!!!! Maybe the ride in the winter isn't such a bad idea!

As far as going to the ER...we have the worst one around. All they'll give is a Toradol shot. Maybe that's only for those of us already taking narcotics, but that's what I got last time. They usually record it as 'Fibro' and 'anxiety'!!!!! Though last time, the doc said it was cervical neuropathy, wanted me to see a neuro surgeon and then gave a Toradol shot!
My old doc was next to impossible to reach and only in her clinic 1-2 days a week. That was the reason I decided to switch. I should have started with an MD instead of a NP. My own fault, I guess.
Anyway, I'm hurting so much and last night I was sweating off and on. Still hurting like crazy this morning and stll have to work. Thi is not the life I want!!!!
